Summary: Adam is a young man living in L.A suffering from Asperger syndrome. He soon falls for his new neighbor, Kris. Based on the movie, Adam. If you seen the movie I have tweaked the plot a bit and the ending. I am only using the basic plot. Not quite a WIP, but lingering on it.
A/N: Lol this was gonna be up way fucking sooner but my laptop charger decided to break and ugh. Not fun. I hope you guys enjoy this!
Kris gets a little too excited when he sees Adam
sitting on the stairs outside of their apartment building on his laptop. There is something about Adam that sparks interest in Kris, something special. Kris thinks its maybe his looks. He is a sight that you’d never see in Arkansas that’s for sure. With gorgeous black hair that hangs a little over his face, piercing light blue eyes rimmed with dark makeup; he wears boots, skinny jeans and jewelry. His style is definitely different. And stunning.
Then again there is something else, something Kris can’t seem to get his finger on. In just the few times that Kris has talked to Adam, six times to be exact, he could sense something wonderful in him.
“Howdy neighbor,” Kris says cheerfully as he walks up to Adam.
Adam has a bit of confusion on his face when he looks up from his laptop.
“I….I’m looking at new pictures of Saturn.”
Adam’s sudden smile bights up his whole face and Kris can’t help but stare in awe. Adam always gets really happy when he talks about space. Kris thinks it’s really cool.
“That’s so cool. I always wished I knew more about space,” Kris says. His knowledge of space went as far as whatever he learnt in high school, which wasn’t very much. Adam’s knowledge of space, however, was endless.
He sits down on the step next to Adam to take a look at the pictures for himself. Adam has about seven different pictures open. They fascinate Kris.
“Like what?”
Kris looks up at blue eyes, “Hmm?”
“You said you wanted to know more about space. But what?”
Kris ponders the question for a moment. “I dunno, like, what’s out there I guess.”
“You’ll have to lower that down.”
Kris giggles a little. “I guess you’re right. I always though space was fascinating though.”
“It is….I have telescopes, books, and star charts…You could borrow some if you’d like. Or maybe we could go out and look at the sky…tonight?” Adam speaks fast and it takes Kris a moment to reply.
“Yeah. Yeah I’d like that.” Kris smiles at Adam and Adam lets out a breathy chuckle.
“Kay.”
Kris really hopes that Adam is serious about looking at the sky tonight.
When Kris makes it upstairs to his apartment, his good mood immediately turns to shit. Around his apartment there are heaps and heaps of boxes stacked all around. All of it he has to unpack himself. He hadn’t yet met anyone besides Adam in LA. He is pretty much a big loner who has a bunch of shit to do and it makes him grumpy.
“Humph,” he pouts to his empty living room wishing for a pizza and a group of hot guys to help him unpack. He ends up with a microwavable pizza, his own two hands and a bunch of open boxes scattered across the floor. I need to make stronger wishes. Or friends.
By the time 9 PM rolls around Kris’s apartment is in a bigger mess then it was before and he has absolutely no energy left. He isn’t feeling accomplished at all.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.
Kris moans. He doesn’t want to get up.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.
He knows its Adam. He should probably get up.
KNOCK KNOCK. “Kris!”
“I’m coming, I’m coming!” With great difficulty Kris pushes himself up from the ground and wobbles to his front door. He opens the door, and sure enough, there stood Adam. He looks really pretty tonight.
“Hi, Kris,” Adam says with a smile. Kris suddenly doesn’t feel exhausted anymore.
“Hi. What brings you here tonight?” Kris gives Adam a smile that he hopes isn’t too big and cheesy like he feels it is.
“Uhh…you…you said…that you might want to look at the sky tonight. With me…?” He seems so nervous….it’s adorable.
“Oh yeah, huh! Well, of course I do!”
Adam absolutely beams. It’s so gorgeous that it makes Kris’s heart melt a little. Normally Kris would scold himself for even being remotely interested in someone, but this is different. Kris is in LA now, new people, new experiences. He can’t dwell on past relationships forever, right? And Adam is really hot and sweet and adorable…
“Are you ready to go?” Adam asks while fiddling with one of the necklaces hanging from his neck.
“Yeah! Let’s go.” Kris grabs his keys from the table beside the door and heads out with Adam.
It’s silent when they walk down the stairs of their apartment building to when Adam opens the door to outside. Kris expects him to stop right out here but he keeps going and Kris just follows along side of him. He is just happy to spend some time with Adam. He really enjoys his company.
After a bit of walking Kris notices that they’re in a small park. There’s only one lonesome tree, a bench, and flowers scattered here and there. The square of grass is only about as big as Kris’s living room, and the only light is coming from the moon. Kris thinks it’s beautiful. Dare he say romantic.
“This is my favorite place to go when I’m stressed or sad,” Adam says from behind Kris, “come and sit with me?” Kris nods and takes the empty seat next to Adam. The bench is small and their shoulders touch. Neither of them seem to mind. Kris studies Adam as he gazes into the sky. I wonder what he’s thinking.
“Tell me about the moon,” Kris whispers not wanting to ruin the peacefulness of the moment.
Adam begins to explain things about the moon in flawless detail. He becomes very animated as he speaks. His eyes brighten and he moves his hands and arms to explain certain things. Kris finds it absolutely fascinating that Adam knows so much about the universe. Kris is struck by his knowledge and passion for it. It’s simply amazing.
“You are an Astrologist or something?” Kris’s asks when Adam stops talking for a moment.
“No,” Adam replies and Kris is a bit shocked by this. He’s so smart though, he really should be.
“Oh, what do you do then?”
“I work at an office that my dad used to be boss at.” Adam’s face falls a little and it makes Kris a little sad.
“Used to?”
“He died.”
Kris gasps a little. “Oh my God. I’m so sorry, Adam…”
Adam is silent. He scares into the sky, and it looks as if he’s trying to find something there. Something he lost.
“Adam….” Kris whispers.
Adam doesn’t speak or look at Kris. He was probably really close to his dad…
“Do…do you want me to leave?”
Adam then shakes his head and turns to look at Kris. His eyes are gray and look of hurt and pain. It makes Kris’s throat tighten to see him like that. Adam is usually so bright and happy. He looks really out of his element.
“Are you okay?” Kris asks softly and gently caresses Adam’s knee.
“Yes,” he says and looks down at Kris’s hand on his knee.
“Sorry,” Kris apologizes and moves his hand away.
“No, no. It’s okay.” Adam smiles a little and it makes Kris so happy.
They stare into each other’s eyes. Earthy brown into ocean blue; two complete opposite color tones and elements that work flawlessly and beautifully together. Then, Adam’s face is really close to Kris’s and it makes his heart rush and his palms sweat. He can feel Adam’s warm breath soft on his face. He leans in more, wanting…
All of a sudden he hears the bench creak under him and Adam’s face is miles away from his own. He feels as if someone just dumped a bucket of ice cold water on his head.
Adam begins to stutter words and sentences that don’t make sense.
“Adam, Adam. Slow down. Did I do something wrong?”
Adam shakes his head. “I just…I remembered something that someone told me a long time ago and…” A look of confusion swipes his face.
“And…?”
“Kris did you want me to kiss you?” Adam says so fast that Kris almost doesn’t understand him.
“Of course I did. I really did.”
“Oh.” Adam’s confusion turns to venerability and it makes Kris giggle a little.
“Kiss me then?”
Adam’s smile is shy and he moves closer to Kris. Adam takes his hand and Kris lets himself be pulled up by him.
They’re faces are close again. Adam’s warm breath blows over Kris’s lips and it lures him in like the smell of fresh bread to a starving man. It feels like an eternity until their lips finally meet, and when they do its like fireworks. Kris is sure he’s flying or drowning or some magical shit that he can’t think of because all he can think is adamslipsadamslipsadamslipsadamslips. They pull apart for a moment only to come together again. This time the kiss is different; deeper and more passionate. Adam’s warm tongue swipes against Kris’s bottom lip and Kris feels like someone put bombs in his organs and now they’re all exploding at the same time. It’s fucking crazy and Kris doesn’t even know why.
They finally stop kissing after who knows how long and Kris isn’t even sure if he knows the way back home. Adam’s a really good kisser.
“We should…leave,” Adam says and he sounds just as lost as Kris feels.
“Yeah…Uhm…That was awesome,” Kris blurts out without thinking.
“It was awesome,” Adam replies and it makes Kris laugh; breaking the high from the kiss a little.
“Let’s go home,” Adam smiles and takes Kris’s hand.
They make it up to Adam’s apartment and they both just stand there awkwardly unsure of what to say. Kris considers asking Adam up to his apartment but it’s far too messy and he isn’t sure what Adam would think of that invitation.
“Well, I’ll see you tomorrow?” Kris breaks the silence.
“Yeah, definitely. Do you want to go on a date?”
Kris laughs a tad at Adam’s bluntness. “I would like that.”
“Okay…Well…I’ll call you then.” Adam opens the door to his apartment and lingers for a minute.
“Bye.” Kris gives Adam one last smile before he shuts the door.
Kris practically runs upstairs to his apartment, eager to call his best friend from Arkansas, Brad, and blab his little ear off about the amazing night he just had.
