Day 19: Friday, August 15, 2008
Dover-Foxcroft, ME to Middletown, NY

Well, the babbling brook did have a detrimental effect on Daryl as he had to keep getting up to go to the bathroom! I, on the other hand, was able to block it out for the most part. However, I did wake up at 7:20, fully refreshed and ready to go. We packed up the car very carefully and Daryl was amazed to find that he could actually see out the back window this morning! We drove from Maine into New Hampshire, then into Massachussets, then Connecticut and finally into New York. The weather was weird again today - it was really warm out (27 or 28 degrees at some points) but it would randomly rain extremely hard on us too and then the temp would drop 7 or 8 degrees. We didn't see anything interesting today other than lots of cars and overcrowded rest stop (one was so full that there was no parking so we just drove right though.). I've never had to wait in a line for the bathroom so many times in one day. I guess cause it's Friday, everyone is leaving town or something. Traffic was just horrible - we'd crawl for no apparent reason for 10 minutes and then speed up to 65mph for a few minutes and then screech to a halt again. Not fun. We based our stopping point on where the TomTom told us there was an Applebee's! (hahaha - we're hilarious!). It sent us to Middletown, NY which is right on the border by Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We found a Super 8 motel for super cheap and Daryl is happy that he can watch the Olympics tonight. We went to Applebee's for dinner but had to wait 30 minutes to get a table. We went shoe shopping during that time and I found a cute pair of Aasics runners but they had a pleather toe (Daryl says mesh is better cause it lets your foot breathe and doesn't crease). I was sad but I'm sure I'll find something in Ohio. Our dinner was really good although not a good as it was in North Dakota. Perhaps because it was Friday night and they were super busy. After, we went to Kohls cause Daryl wanted to get another pair of shorts (he only brought 3 pairs with him). They were having a huge sale so he got a couple pairs of shorts, some shirts and even socks and underwear so he doesn't have to do laundry before we go back! I got a cute pair of pants and necklace - I could have spent much longer in there but I wanted to pace myself (and save some money) for when we go to Ohio and shop with Mario and Alex. Olympic watching began when we got back to the motel and then we went to bed shortly after. We want to get an early start tomorrow so we are at Mario's by a decent time. Sorry, no pictures today - we just didn't do anything that cool. I am missing my own amazing bed these days - it will be nice to get home.
