New Albany, Ohio

After spending the last week sitting in a car and feeling my rear end expand, I decided it was time to start running again. I got up at 7:30 and headed off for a 3.5 mile jog around the golf course which is nearby. It took me just under 45 minutes and I felt great. It got pretty warm and I guess my body isn't used to hard core exercise in the heat because I started to feel light-headed. I walked the last bit and came back and showered. I still felt really crappy and it was horrible cause everytime I moved my hear or bent over, I'd see black spots. I realize now that I was dehydrated (I've never been dehydrated before). After some breakfast, I felt a little better. We all piled into Alex's SUV and headed to the Columbus Zoo. There were tons of people there (not my idea of awesome) but because we had kids and strollers, I felt much more calm and relaxed. The kids are just so amazed by all the animals that it's just super fun. Trevor really enjoyed showing us around (he'd been there a few times so he knew where certain animals were) even though Mario and Daryl kept teasing him and telling him crazy stories (like all about the wooley mammoth black widow spider that bit off part of Daryl's finger). Jo was being SUPER dramatic today and everything set her off. She kept having tantrums and screaming over minor things - it was quite embarrassing but Mario and Alex handled her really well. I just kept laughing cause her facial expressions were priceless. She wasn't much fun though. We had a super expensive lunch on site and went to a couple more exhibits before the heat got to us. We headed home just after 2 for a nap time during which I updated my blog and Daryl played Wii with Trevor (who, by the way, was VERY impressed to learn that I have a DS). Daryl set up their wireless so apparently now they can all play Wii together when we are back in Canada. That should be really neat to see. They had a babysitter come over at about 6 so we could head over to Columbus for an early birthday dinner for Alex. We all dressed up nicely and went to an awesome restaurant called Tyfoon (Mario had a hard time finding it to make reservations since he kept looking for “typhoon” the restaurant!). The food was delicious and we really enjoyed chatting with all of Alex's friends. There were some funny stories exchanged. We got home at about 11 and then stayed up into the small hours of the morning chatting. I was feeling really dizzy and lightheaded again (probably the alcohol at dinner did not help) so I tried to go to sleep as quickly as possible.

All ready for a sunny day at the zoo!

We got to pet the goats...notice how Daryl is stepping in their poop.

Me tentatively petting a goat.....I don't really like them.

Mario and Daryl pose in some old cart thing.

Trevor on the polar bear ( don't worry, it wasn't a real one!).

Daryl and the baby elephant sculpture. Trevor could leap frog over it.

Mario and grumpy Jo.

Trevor, Mario and Jo by the manatee sculpture. We seriously would have taken "better" pictures with all these sculptures but there were just too many people around.

Daryl and I all dressed up in front of Mario's house.
