We had a great sleep last night in a nice big soft bed so we slept in a bit - we got up at 8:15. We managed to leave just after 9 and decided to take Bloor Street downtown because I thought it might be less busy. Bad idea because it had a lot of lights on it and it was very busy!! We finally got downtown at about 10 and found parking for $5 for all day - much more reasonable than yesterday! We started off at the CN Tower and we bought City Passes there - City Passes basically give you entrance to six major attractions in the city for a good price which usually works out to one or two of the attractions being free. We were lucky we got to the CN Tower before it got really busy because we didn't have to wait very long to go up the elevators. The view from the top was pretty amazing! We also took the Sky Pod up even higher and Daryl jumped on the glass floor - I could barely walk on it! It was soooo scary! Daryl took way too much video of the sites and for some reason kept taping the Skydome.....can you say BORING?? Afterward we headed down to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Daryl was pretty excited about this place and I think it surpassed all his expectations. I wasn't as enthralled but it was still pretty neat to do some of the activities - Daryl did a wicked play-by-play of some famous goal by Gretzky and then we posted it on the internet! He even got to take his picture with the Stanley Cup - I even think it was the REAL one!! Daryl was stoked cause he got two more vintage t-shirts - the Winnipeg Jets and the Minnesota North Stars.
We went down the street to some pub for lunch because was got 10% off by showing our Hockey Hall of Fame admission ticket and the food was pretty good. The place was actually pretty dead considering it was a Saturday afternoon. Weird. We then walked up Yonge Street to go to the mall because I wanted to find some new shoes. It was way too busy though so we continued up towards the Ontario Art Gallery, which was also included on our City Passes. We finally found it at about 3 and figured we'd spend about 20 minutes there cause neither of us are very big into art. However, they wanted us to 'coat check' our shopping bags and the line was long that we decided to nix it and headed towards the Royal Ontario Museum. We thought it was much closer than it actually turned out to be and on our way there we came across the Ontario Parliament Buildings but we didn't go inside because we had to get to ROM. We also walked through Queen's Park which had some pretty neat statues like the one of King Edward VII on his horse. We finally got to ROM and our legs were just killing us - I swear I lost 10 pounds today from all the stinking walking! We used our City Passes again and now have almost paid for it. The exhibits were really cool but there were lots of loud kids who ran around wildly. I don't understand why people bring their kids to places like this when they can't behave properly. The Greek exhibit was my favorite - when you look at the pictures from ROM, you must realize that we were EXTREMELY tired and thus feeling very silly.... I loved the Kids Zone where things were interactive and I spent a lot of time matching spice smells- I did quite well too! We left at about 5 and had a long walk back - we were very bored and so took some funny video tape - the highlight being when I chased a bunch of pigeons. When we finally got back to the car, I didn't think I would ever get out because my legs hurt sooo much! We took the Expressway home - Daryl is getting good at driving here but I'm too scared to even try. We got dinner, rested in our room and then headed down to the pool and hot tub to soak our aching muscles. It was pretty small but still nice. We came back and wrote postcards to our parents and grandmothers. Tomorrow we are hoping to go to Casa Loma and the Science Centre before heading down to Niagara Falls.
Enjoy the numerous pictures - sorry about the clicking to open them but otherwise they take up way too much space! :)
