We woke up very refreshed this morning and we on the road by 8:45. It was beautiful and sunny and there was no sign of the storm from last night. We stopped at a fantastic lookout point over Lake Superior and a nice woman from Indiana took our picture. We also stopped at Aguasabon River Gorge and took some wonderful pictures of the gully and waterfall. We also met a retired teacher from Chilliwack who is doing the same trip as us but he isn't coming back until October - I guess he's got the time though!! The landscape is beautiful and we're back in the hills and greenery. We stopped at Wawa and saw a huge Canada Goose statue -I think it's the biggest in the world (well, who else would want to have a giant Canada Goose statue??). I got to put my feet in Lake Superior when we stopped at Old Woman Bay in Lake Superior Provincial Park. I guess because it's such a popular place, you have to pay to park there but we had no intention of doing so. We parked and then ran down to the beach and took some pictures - it was a beautiful sandy beach and I would have loved to swim there if the water hadn't been so cold! My goal is to put my feet in all of the Great Lakes - hopefully I'll achieve it on this trip! We continued along to Pancake Bay where we got gas and I looked for some good Lake Superior Postcards (they didn't have any). We got to Sault Ste Marie and were pleased to finally find a country radio station (we hadn't heard much since we left Winnipeg). We then continued along the shores of Lake Huron but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to put my feet in it. We saw a pair of women in old outfits right down to the bonnets, driving a horse and buggy along the side of the road just before Massey and it made me wonder if there are Amish people around here - it seems to be the right area. We found Chutes Provincial Park (after getting a little lost) at about 6:30 and signed in. We got a radio-free site which means no one can play music - this was music to our ears since we've been bombarded with other people's crappy taste in music this whole trip! Hopefully it will be a quiet night! After dinner, Daryl and I went for a walk along the River aux Sables. We saw some spectacular rapids and took a hike up to the lookout spot #1. Just before we got there, we caught up to a family and since that's where they were headed, we continued along, heading for lookout spot # 2 which was about a kilometre farther. We came to a bridge over the river and after some pics and seeing a funny weasel thing running along the rocks, I went down onto the rocks below so I could get near to the rapids. Daryl kept taking all these pictures because the view was fantastic = it was sunset and the lighting was just gorgeous. I then took a couple of pictures of him and as I went to take the next one, he was no longer in the frame. I looked down and there he was on bended knee with a ring!!!! I was soooooo shocked - I had no idea. Of course I burst into tears. It was so perfect though cause the location was spectacular and there was no one else around - exactly as I had dreamed. It's the most beautiful ring ever - it's white gold and has three perfect diamonds in it. I'm so happy right now! We stayed until it got pretty dark and then we stumbled back along the path, hoping that bears wouldn't come and attack us! I can't believe I'm engaged!!!

Me at the Aguasabon River Gorge.
The gorge - it was breath-taking!
I took this pic so I'd know how to spell the name!

We loved the clear blue waters - it was by far the cleanest Great Lake.

Does he look nervous???
Good thing I had nice hair!

The picture taken just before Daryl proposed.....is he pulling the ring out of his pocket????
