You never saw Live aid? It was huge over here, everyone watched it. I have no memory of it, i was 6 in 1986. The reconstructions are brilliant and the actors really look like the guys. Its very much about freddie though. The first wife of Brian is mentioned once when he's writing we will rock you and he wants everybody to get up and stamp their feet, she gets up first and he says thanks Chrissie, the only reason i knew who she was and Roger taylors first wife has one line about being loyal ( he left her and their two kids. Brian left his first wife and 3 kids for Anita Dobson). They left out the true story of Roger locking himself in a cupboard when he was told i'm in love with my car wasn't good enough to be a single. Instead they show him smashing things in the kitchen. Did you know Queen is the only group in which all members have written a number one single? Freddie- Bo rhap Roger- Radio gaga Brian- we will rock you John- Another one bites the dust. Also the only band where all members are in the songwriters hall of fame. I blame ( ... )

No I never saw it. Queen was bigger in the UK then over here, or so I thought. I was in school. But never paid much attention to them. I don't even remember my brother following them and he was older. I remember then playing stuff on the radio, but really I didn't follow them. In fact I was more aware of Queen when SNL did skits and movies with them googballs singing old Queen songs. So I ddin't really know that much aout them. I didn't know that Queen was the only group that member wrote #1 singles. So that's a surprise. I just wa more intersted in alternative rock, etc.

I heard they sold better in Europe. I know they had problems in America, like the break free video getting banned by MTV because they were in drag.

Roger looks really good as a girl which is quite scary. I assume the conservatives didn't like them at all. It is unusual to have a band where everyone writes songs, usually at least one of the group is just a musician. Where else can you find a group with an art student, astrophysicist, dentist and electrical engineer?

That' right. They were perceived as gay. The U.S. was always more conservatve. In addition to talent, the life style sells over here too. They honestly were never that big. They got more well known after the Saturday Nite Live skits and then movies appeared. I remember in school, the boys making fun of them. This sound terrible, but for years before Freddy's death, I actually thought he was dead!

Why do you think Americans are more puritanical? Is it church? I think its so funny in every show, even the simpsons, and my American internet friends all attend church. I could not name one British person i know who regularly attends church. Hatchings, matchings and despatchings (christenings, weddings and funerals) are the only reason I've ever seen people go. Oh, and from the break free video, American MTV may not of also got the joke that they are coronation street characters as well. The two consistently highest watched shows are Coronation street and Eastenders on british TV. Both are soaps, although we show them at 8pm at night and all the family watch other families screaming at each other. Coronation street in on ITV and is northern, Eastenders is BBC (you need a license for your TV, your buy yearly around £100 and you get all the BBC channels and radio stations with no adverts) and that's set in the east end of London.
