Yeah, Liv's got a kid - sort of. Maria Bello guest starred (that's a whole other discussion!) and was revealed to be another child of rape like Olivia. (For a minute Liv thought they were sisters... yeah.) Long story short - at the end of the show MB's character made Liv her son's legal guardian. Surprise! I didn't know you could do that without the 'guardian' being aware, but they did it. So, for now at least, Olivia has a 12 year old kid.

I'm convinced that the writers are plucking storylines from bad fan fiction.

And, for what it's worth, in the province of Ontario (the only location for which I can comment knowledgeably on the law) you could, technically, appoint someone a guardian without their knowledge (you can, for instance, put it in your will ... and there's no requirement you tell the prospective guardian). That said, to be valid any guardianship of a minor child must be approved by a Court within 90 days of the death of the last surviving custodial parent, so ... um ... chances of a Court approving it if the named guardian was unrelated? Not very high. Especially if there were any other reasonable choices available. Doubly especially if any of the other choices wanted the job and the named guardian was anything but absolutely welcoming of it.

That's kind of scary. Of course, I would hope, in most real-life cases, the prospective guardian would have some knowledge and agreement to take the child.

In this case, MB is supposed to re-appear and hopefully she will take back her child. If they give Liv permanent custody, that will be the final straw of character assassination in my book.

Oh, I forgot to tell you that MB's character's name is Vivian. Liv and Viv. And rumor has it that Viv's a lesbian. I think it may be true, since the kid asked Olivia if Marcia Gay Harden was her girlfriend in the last episode.

Are you sure you don't want to start watching again? ;-)

There was something so familiar and rang so true about their critique, it's like deja vu. Also sweet and funny. But why is Olivia missing those glasses? The glasses on the TV character or did Alex get Lasik?

Thanks. I read an interview MH did where she was so happy that she (Olivia) had a kid now and it prompted me to write this. I really hate what they've done to Butchy McFab.

And Olivia was referring to the TV character's glasses. Guess I should have been a little more clear on that... A story about a show within a show with characters talking about fake characters can get confusing! ;-)

LOL. I love your subtle (or not) critique of the show. Glad we both seem to be picking up on some of the lame stuff. I guilty admit to quite liking the scene with the boy and the toy water pistol. But yes *god* I *miss* the old Benson.... ::sigh:::
