“It isn’t fair,” Sarah muttered to the empty room as she blew her nose. She’d been waiting for this night such a long time, ever since she first set eyes on Jenny, but now a cruel cold had ruined all well-laid plans for the night. The red dress she’d wanted to wear for their date was still lying on the chair and Sarah watched it with annoyance as she pulled the blanket up to her chin. Suddenly the bell rang and when she opened Jenny grinned at her, holding two bags.
