many new things

Well, since I haven't updated my journal in about 2 months, I figure it's time to actually write something instead of just checking in on my friends.
The biggest change in my life recently is that, on November 15th, Greg and I closed on a home here in South Florida. It was a lot more than I really wanted to spend, but I think Greg and I will be able to make things work out well. We didn't move in for about a month after the closing. At least we had the convenience to wait. In the meantime, we got to clean house, and there was PLENTY to clean. Things have settled somewhat, but there's still plenty to do.
At the same time that we moved into the house, I also got a newer car, which is nice. It's a '93 Pontiac Sunbird convertible. The first week or so, I left the top up, mainly since it was either rainy or chilly. It's actually gotten a bit nippy down here the past few weeks.
Outside of that, I celebrated Christmas with my family and Greg's. Greg and I went to my cousin's (Alethea's) house in Coral Springs/Parkland. There were over 20 people there, many who I hadn't seen in about a year. Most of them had never met Greg. That went well. The worst part were my cousin's kids. Three girls, all under age 5... at least the karaoke machine they got wasn't working. That would've been awful, but I think they made up for it enough with all of their noise. Oh well, it was nice to see everyone, and I really can't complain THAT much about the noise. That was on Christmas Eve for the birthday of my mom and her twin brother.
On Christmas Day, I visited my parents, then went to my grandparents' house, where they, two of my aunts, my uncle, 3 cousins, and 2 other family relations were. After spending some time there, it was on to Greg's parents' house. I didn't drag Greg around with me on that day. Lots of running around, but at least the roads were quiet.
Things in general here have been pretty good. I'm annoyed that Florida helped get Bush into the White House, but hopefully that won't amount to too much, unless there ends up being a backlash of liberal ideas to counteract the conservatism.
The last movie I went to see was Kinsey. I was surprised to see so many people there, but not SOOO surprised that everyone else was in their 60's. I figured there might be some young gay guys or girls who might be interested. I mean, at least Kinsey broke some of the Victorian ideas that brought many things that, unfortunately, we're seeing another wave of today. I'm so glad this movie was not A Beautiful Mind. At least in Kinsey, I didn't have to hear the audience make inane comments at everything. That's why, if I go to the movies, I tend to go to see movies most other people wouldn't be interested in for one reason or another, which end up being movies I tend to enjoy. I'm interested in seeing Bad Education by Pedro Almadovar. The last movie I saw before Kinsey (by the guy who directed Gods & Monsters, another good movie) was A Dirty Shame, a John Waters movie I saw right before Jeanne was about to hit Florida.
We had too many hurricanes last year, and they were too far away to keep me out of work for more than about a half day. Oh well, you can't have everything, can you?
Well, that's a decent update for now.
