Well, yesterday was definitely one of those unique and rare days that are very interesting and amazing all at the exact same time.

Em and I had our meeting with Dr. Smith AND Dr. Bates...together in the same room. That was amazing fact #1. I discussed Grad School options with Dr. Bates and he said that getting into UCL and NYU were not impossible options for me, especially if I keep up my fieldwork and up my GPA, but it would still be hard. So I'm going to apply to UNC-Wilmington as well as W&M.

This is where the real fun begins.

All the power and gas was out all over campus for a really long time. There had been 2 very quick close together explosions. Later on we discovered that it was someone striking a transmiter and gas line over by Hull where the new gym is going up. We couldn't get into our dorms, they shut D-hall and the Cafe down and every building on campus except Ruffner had no power. We couldn't have the windows open in our rooms and couldn't flush the toilet or run the water in the sink. There were no lights, no internet, no cable. Even all of the emergency back up generators and the emergency lights in the halls failed. I only had to endure an hour of boredom and unpacked all of my bags during that hour before class.

We got to leave Archives 15 minutes early because Dr. Jordan took the 8 of us + a senior in the Honors Anthro class to Willis Mountain!!! Oh my gosh! We climbed close to 2000 feet. We saw so many rock shelters, and got to hang out in one called Woodson's Cave. There were markings on the walls all the way back to 1700! We got to climb up all these rocks and rock faces...and slip and slide because of the dry leaves and pine needles. When we finally got to thetop it was so 100% worth it. The view was absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous. Standing up there so high above everything being able to see the Blue Ridge, Richmond, Lynchburg, the High Rises, all the surrounding counties...it was so amazing. And I felt so good up there. I felt so strong and powerful. Everyone atleast once in their life needs to experience climbing a mountain, just to sit on the top of it. It's something that I will never forget. I hope to go up there again one day....when it's not 15 freaking degrees. :D

When we got back Em, Jenn and I went to Macado's for dinner. Mmmmm it was goooood. :-)

We got back to campus...and the lights were all back on! Yay for being able to take a shower, flush a toilet, turn on teh sink, open up the computer and use of the internet!!!

I spent the rest of the night starting on a paper, working on Spanish homework and talking to Kelsey and John-Michael.

It was a nice end to an amazing, unique and rare day.

Today I have classes and all that, and then I'm driving back home because I have CW Training. Yaaaaaaaay! I need to finish those outlines....ooops....better get on that.
