HAHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG, I imagined Elijah Wood as Gavin and... oh dear, that's just so not right. lol
Actually, Gavin's's played by Lee Williams, if you wanna know what he's like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVHPMKvKgp4 (this is a blessing from I don't know what powers, I had an image of Gavin in my mind, I knew LW would play him and by accident I saw this clip and it was as if they had filmed what I had in mind just for me :P)
I agree, Chase wouldn't react like this normally, definitely not. But the image just wouldn't go away that during the day he tries to keep everything under control, taking care of his mum, running their home on his own, with only little help from his grandmother, bc she's just too damn disappointed in her daughter... but at night once his mum is out and he has tucked her in he changes, bc then he can be crazy, he can feel like a regular 19 year old, and of course Gavin's totally not helping in keeping Chase stable, he just drags him even deeper.
I don't know what's typical or not typical for those raised by addicts and their family members, but I'm very happy if I got it right. I think that's the upside of acting, you just know what's right, acceptable or unimaginable in a certain situation for a character, at least that's what I feel when writing. And I don't even really have to think much about it, it just comes naturally. *shrugs*
