i am going to call today (tuesday) my hump day. that's because i'm going to break down this week (sunday-sunday) into two separate weeks- haha (;
yesterday i had a philosophy paper due (i think she might actually like this one, but then i have believed that before, too!) and a rewrite of a french paper. today i had a critical analysis due for ed pscyh. so in the past 48 hours, i have written 14-15 pages. i love college.
no but seriously, my ed psych paper was awesome. we were supposed to do a narrative of an event in our lives during our 13 years of school, and i chose sexual harassment. i did a lot of research on it (and let me tell you: i was really displeased with the attention paid to student/student sexual harassment!) and was really fired up to write the paper. so four hours after i sat down at my computer to write it BAM! there's 9 pages done. i had not planned on it going that quickly- nor that well- but i really loved it. it's a nice reminder to me why i want to be a teacher.
i was thinking yesterday about why i might make a good teacher. i realize i'm not an incredibly creative person (i can't write like kate canavan or liz, i can't create art and design like caroline, etc), but i do have seen a lot of things that would help me as an educator. (thoughts are too construed to write down, so i just won't bother)
so today is the hump day of the first week of this week. the second week should go as follows: friday morning, i wake up and go to a short part of my philosophy class. i will hop out midway through class to get to swarthmore for the first day of the heptathlon. that day, i'll compete in the following HEPTATHLON events: hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200. me, harry, (whatever other decathlete is up to competing), and coach will stay in a nearby hotel. (at this point, since i have to have my own room since i'm a girl, caroline might stay over with me in the hotel. that way she can see both days and be sisters and have fun!)
saturday morning, we'll be up early again to compete in the second day of the multis, and various other events. the second day of the heptathlon events are: long jump, jav, 800. coach also wants me to try to do hurdles, high jump, and long jump outside of the heptathlon so i can maybe earn a few more points for the team. the timing with long jump and the 800 still has to be worked out, so maybe i won't do that. but he definitely wants me to rty the other 2.
saturday night i will pass out in my room at school for a really long time, then wake up sunday morning for the third day of the meet. hopefully, i will have made it to finals for hurdles, so they would be that day. after that, the conference meet will be over and i will be able to think solely about myself when i compete.
my goals for the conference heptathlon:
1- rebreak my record
2- qualify for ECACs
3- win the heptathlon
hurdles: 15.68
high jump: 4-10
shotput: 28
200: 28.98
long jump: 15-6
jav: 80'
800: 2:39
since i don't know how tired i will be after all that, i'm not even going to try and set goals for the regular events. i think i've got my work cut out for me with just the goals for the heptathlon. aaaaugh WISH ME LUCK!
