I'm Just Tryin' To Get By Being Quiet And Shy

We got the least done on Saturday. I woke up relatively early, and decided to order up some room service, which ended up being entirely not worth it. Ordering the cheapest thing on the menu, when added to the tax and the gratuity and the service charge meant that I ended up paying $10 for a bagel and a small apple juice--and they forgot to put any butter on it! We spent most of the morning lazing around the hotel room, and decided to have McDonald's for lunch to conserve both our wallets and our appetite because we were planning on splurging for dinner. Maybe it was just my imagination, but the chicken sandwich I got from the local McDonald's tasted much fresher than any of the chicken I've gotten from Mickey D's in the tri-state area, and when I mentioned this to Marvel he told me he had just been thinking the exact same thing.

We spent most of our day shopping in the tourist traps for souvenirs for our family and taking some more photos. After we had spent WAY more money than we should have, we stopped in a fairly uncrowded bar, Fritzel's. We knew we were welcome when we saw the Jaegermeister signs everywhere, ha. At Fritzel's I was finally able to order a Sezarac, which is purported to be the first cocktail ever mixed in America. It was too strong for Marvel's taste, but I enjoyed it--although not as much as I had the Voodoo Juice, or even the Hurricanes.

We headed back to the hotel room a bit early in order to be able to change and freshen up for our dinner at Brennan's; we had made a reservation the day before. We were lucky enough to be offered the Prix Fixe menu, which made our entire dinner much more affordable, and it had a very good variety of selections, but to be honest, most of the food was on par with very good wedding fare, and nothing more. Marvel got turtle soup again for his appetizer, but our waiter added a shot of sherry to it right before Marvel started eating, which really enhanced the flavor. My chicken soup was good, but it was nothing compared to what Marvel's dad makes. The house salad with Brennan's dressing was actually very good, normally I don't enjoy dressing at all, but I liked this almost as much as the ginger dressing you get at Japanese restaurants. Marvel had soft shell crab for his entree, and I ordered Chicken Lazone, another Brennan's specialty. It was good, but the sauce they prepared for the chicken tasted even better when you mixed it with the angel hair pasta they served. But Bananas Foster--ah, Bananas Foster. You could have charged me the price of the entire meal for the dessert alone, and I would have called it a bargain. In fact, Bananas Foster was worth every penny we spent on the entire trip. It was THAT good.

We went back to the hotel room one more time to change so we could be comfortable going out to Bourbon Street, but I didn't want to take my dress off...I felt pretty! We ended up heading back to Beerfest, but Pinkie wasn't there--instead, there was another local who looked SO MUCH like phalanx2525 that we ended up nicknaming him (privately, of course!) Cajun (phalanx2525's real name). He was SUPER friendly, too, and ended up doing some shots with us on the house, but for the most part we sat in the back and played more bar touch screen video games...what can I say, we're nerds!
