Shoes, glorious shoes.

This little ballroom dance shoe FAQ is awesome, as is this one (although you have to go to their homepage in order to access the FAQ). I may just head to Ross and look for some nice, comfy leather-soled heels--online prices for sole attachment: $5 for the shoe-glue, $10 for two seude soles. This seems both cheaper and less risky than buying $60 "practice" ballroom shoes that may or may not hurt my feet. Given my 1) terrible arches, 2) propensity for blistering and 3) height, meaning that I *must* get heels in order to dance with wyowanderer, I'd rather find heels that are comfy and fit, and then make them sole-ful.

Wyo, any chance we could visit Last Chance Friday morning while waiting for the rest of our party to converge? They have awesome deals on designer shoes (real, pliable leather; sturdy heels; a billion colors and flavors; lots of men's dress shoes that may be convertible into ballroom shoes). If we find anything workable in the $20 to $30 range (which is the upper end of what they charge anyway), then I can invest in the soles/barge's cement and we'll have $35 dollar ballroom shoes.

And definitely check out the bowling shoe suggestion--they're hot. Or maybe get a second pair of cowboy boots and resole them. Jake can be prissy about footwear, but I have no such compunction.
