MOVIE THOUGHTS: PEACH GIRL AND DAYTIME SHOOTING STAR
Nov 21, 2017 16:06
So I watched both Peach Girl and Daytime Shooting Star in the same day. For the movie synopsis, I will be getting them from Asianwiki:
PEACH GIRL
Momo Adachi (Mizuki Yamamoto) is a female high school student. She appears to be a wild girl due to her tan skin and dyed hair, but she is a actually naive and sweet student. Since her days in middle school, Momo Adachi has secretly held feelings for classmate Toji (Mackenyu). Meanwhile, the most popular male student, Kairi Okayasu (Kei Inoo), becomes interested in her. Her friend Sae (Mei Nagano) is jealous of her and tries to block Toji from Momo. Momo is conflicted with Toji and Kairi, but she has to make a decision.
[Spoiler (click to open)] My first thought, the girl totally looks like Yaotome Hiraku of Hey! Say! Jump! Haha!
And for me, Yaotome might be really funny but he is not exactly the best looking among the group. So a girl version being pursued by Inoo and Mackenyu’s characters? She is sooo damn lucky! I mean up to the end, wow girl, these 2 guys really like you. Up to the end, I was thinking if I was in her shoes, who would I choose among those 2 guys?
Inoo is one of my biases in JUMP but boy… his acting is like his normal self. Being cute and child like. Not much on the acting though. You can tell that he is really new in the acting scene. Mackenyu on the other hand is really good plus SUPER GOOD LOOKING. They are complete opposites but I like them both! Argh! Up to the end I don’t know who I am shipping for Momo.
I have to give credit to Mei Nagano who played the antagonist Sae. She was really convincing in being evil. My only comment to her character and to the plot is that these are not the works of a high school student. The plot went from cutesy to R18 to melodramatic cute. I mean, the scheming and plots where the likes of an afternoon TV dramas that moms and grannies watch.
Still, this movie was feel good movie for me J
DAYTIME SHOOTING STAR
Suzume Yosano (Mei Nagano) is a first grade high school student. She lived in the countryside, but, due to her parents transferring overseas for work, Suzume now lives in Tokyo with her uncle (Ryuta Sato). Suzume has never had a boyfriend before, but she has feelings for her homeroom teacher Satsuki Shishio (Shohei Miura). Meanwhile, her classmate, Daiki Mamura (Aran Shirahama), becomes attracted to Suzume.
[Spoiler (click to open)] Firstly my initial thoughts à wow, the lead girl is Sae from Peach Girl?! What a complete transformation! From a scheming chic like girl to a naïve girl. Good one! And her acting was really good. So im kinda happy that she gets to star in her own movie and stuck in supporting roles.
2nd thought, the male leads… Shishio sensei is suuuuper cute! I wouldn’t mind having a cute teacher like him. However, a HS student and teacher romance is kinda off like eeewww… As for Aran playing Daiki the classmate who is attracted to Suzume, I thought he looks a little mature for a HS student. Generations fans please don’t kill me. Haha
This movie is also feel good. It gave me the feeling of if I can only go back to HS or college and be more like Suzume, simple but also straight forward in a way. Though its eeewww, you also get the feels for sensei. I was rooting for him. Maybe they can be a couple once Suzume gets into college. LOL
That’s it for now first. Need to pay off my credit cards and mobile plan then watch more Kahogo no Kahoko (whose downloading is taking toooo long thus the free time to write this blog). Maybe, I can start with Because This is My First Life which has good reviews also…
