WARNING! Long entry ahead! WARNING! Long entry ahead!
It feels good to be back in the 'field, even though it's much colder and I failed to bring a coat. Guess I'll have to borrow someone else's damn coat. (In all honesty, there are about 5 coats here that I wore back in the day, so I'll survive.)
I landed at 9:00 on Friday night. My plane was on time and my luggage appeared at the same time that my flightmate's luggage did. It was definitely a first. We waited for April's flight since she was landing at 9:30 and we had pre-arranged to car pool. Her flight landed on time also, but her luggage was slow to appear and accompanied by several baseballs. (There was a baseball team waiting for their luggage who apparently had checked a bucket of baseballs. The bucket showed up empty and the balls were mixed in with all of the other luggage.) April and I grabbed a few and returned them saying, "We grabbed your balls!" It was pretty funny, especially when a random guy remarked that they didn't even have to pay for it. Oh, and speaking of random, I saw Clay Marsh in the airport. He was picking up some friends (perhaps a girlfreind?). He goes to OSU and is in law school for business. He said that he hates it, to which I explained that it's much better to make less money and do a job that you enjoy. He didn't agree.
I went to a wedding on Saturday - two friends from high school married each other. It was beautiful and a little bizarre to witness since we all remember Courtney saying in high school that she couldn't see Michael as anything more than a friend. Time marches on - until it becomes the "Wedding March", I guess. Anyway, they have been best friends for a long time and they seem very happy together. In related news, my date for the wedding was SO CUTE! He seems to really like me per the many smiles I received all day. He's a good dresser and is very intelligent. His eating habits leave a little something to be desired, but everyone has their quirks. The big problem is that I literally robbed the cradle to be with him. He's only 14 months old. He danced with me for almost an entire song, with whining here and there. That's really no different than any other date I've had. They usually can't keep up with me on the dance floor and whine about having to be on it at all. All in all, my date with Aiden was successful. I even had enough courage to kiss him on the cheek before he left. I hope the other woman in his life (his mom) didn't care. On another note, I danced with my dad at the wedding and the song that came on was "Home" by Michael Buble. It was quite appropriate and almost cry-causing, but alas, I held it together. Also attending the wedding was my ex-boyfriend from early high school (A.K.A. the bride's cousin) and his girlfriend, the parents and brother of a guy I briefly dated in high school before my parents made me break up with him for smashing cake in my face at my birthday party, a guy I pseudo-dated after high school (A.K.A. the groom's brother & husband of one of the bridemaids), & Darcy & Mitch (Mike's mom & brother). An interesting array of guests if considering only my perspective & comfort zone. Eh, it really wasn't a big deal because most of that is water under the bridge. Of course, there IS some that's just water....
Andy stopped by on Saturday night on his way back to Cleveland. It was a nice surprise and I'm looking forward to spending time with him on Wednesday...and with K8 on Tuesday! I wish that I could see everyone, but perhaps that will have to wait until May when I drive up to Ohio for my pre-summer break. Please know that I miss y'all though. I'll try to call this week since I have some breathing time.
I went to Atlanta last month to meet some of the cast members of One Tree Hill. They were on tour promoting the "Friends With Benefit" CD. Tyler Hilton performed a few songs and yes, I was the oldest one there, yes, I waited in line forever with a ton of screaming teenage girls, and yes, for a little while, I acted just like one. I'm absolutely aware that it is a guilty pleasure, but I'm hooked. I took pictures with my spiffy new digital camera, but I haven't taken the time to figure out how to transfer them to the computer yet. Eventually you'll see them...probably after UPN & the WB officially merge and OTH is cancelled. Hopefully that doesn't happen, but it seems that some of the shows I fall for get cancelled after only a few seasons (i.e. My So-Called Life & Party of Five).
I'm really enjoying my grad class even though I don't feel as if I've officially gotten my school groove back. We had a midterm last week - 100 multiple choice questions. We graded the test in class and the prof. tossed out 16 of his questions because the 10 of us reasonably argued why his answer wasn't necessarily the "most correct". Needless to say, that helped my grade...not that it matters because he allows us to write a paragraph for each question that we missed explaining what the correct answer is and why. It sounds "soft", but I appreciate the fact that he wants us to learn the material...and the fact that because he allows us to do that, I will most likely end up with a 100% on the midterm that counts as a quarter of our final grade. Perhaps I should start writing those paragraphs instead of updating...
Yeah, about that groove thing...
I think I might go for a run today. I WAS doing a good job at regularly attending the gym, key word being "was". Perhaps I should go while I have the desire because it will probably only take a minute before it's gone.
And so ends another ridiculously long entry. You can't say I didn't warn you. Well, you can, but you'd be lying. Until the next phase...
