Joust of school and other things!

Hmmm.. I couldn't come up with a title, so the following title is what you get.

Now on to my entry.

I have realized that I only have one week of summer school left. This yields to many rewards that I am longing for. The obvious reward is the relaxation I attained during my rest of the month known as June. I have done what I was going to do, and that is own the Summer of Errors! Don't believe me.. then travel back to the month of June, and look up that post, because it intells what I was going to do to the Summer of Errors. So, that yields another small break for a couple of weeks in August. This is a small opportunity to get away from school, but a good one. This of course only until August 22.

With that said, I have just about finished an essay I have been writing on, and I will be turning it in on monday. I believe its a good paper, and I actually don't think its crap. Why is this you ask? Because.. I actually looked at my teacher's comments. Well, I didn't look at them, but a good friend of mine did.

So with that said, here is to hoping I get a B+ or higher!

In other news, I have also come to slowly realize that I will be braduating soon. The most obvious date of graduation is this coming spring. I am able to do so if I really want to. But, if all else fails, I can graduate by august. Either way, its not so bad. My schooling at TAMUCC is coming to a close, and Foz must think of something to do with himself afterwards. Many possibilities are dwelling on my mind, and many that are very much attainable. So, until then, graduation is slowly coming upon me!

I have not done too much of my writing as of late. I need to really bust my creative intake and exploit it as much as possible. I have done some work while I was at home, but now that I am in school... I have felt a small drout in writing. Worry not my fellow readers/writers, Foz will get back to it soon. As soon as I do one of two things...

Make myself, along with going to the gym every day.

Or, just choose one or the other.

Knowing me, gym will be dead, and I will choose writing.

Next semester looks pretty busy as of late, so gym will be the thing that I will do when... I am "allowed to." I don't say that like its a bad thing, its just... I must keep everything as balanced as possible. With my growing anime habbit, the lingering habbit of writing, the game habbit I have when needed, gym habbits is the last thing I have on my list. But, in any case, that will not stop me from eating out, you know, when I get the opportunity that is.

My advice to peple who read this...

Watch the Dub of Ah My Goddess. No really, its good

Watch the dub of Solty Rei, another good one.

If you don't watch dubs, just watch the damn show. I cannot stress enough how good these shows are. This is probablly because I like so many things in general, and I usually do not discriminate over dubs or subs, but overall, its just good viewing.

If you hate dubs, then watch the subs. If you hate subs, as rare as that is, then watch the subs. As long as you can watch the show in some fashion.

On to my next topic

Language

What is language. Is language a superior form of speaking. Is it only used to convey feelings, expressions, and thoughts? No, language is every where my friends, whether it is bad nor good. Now then, language is interpreted differently, you know like fairy tales that are written in latin, then represented in english. This is the same for anything, something being produced in its original intent, then interpreted in a different language. Language is a wonderful thing, but then when things like acting, culture, superior creativity and so fourth come into play, then we tend to work on one side of the coin. While taking the British Literature Before Renaissance class, I have learned lots of things of language. In particular, original vs interpreted. This is the same when it comes to any form of media/writing that is produced outside of its original language.

Say your reading... The Cannaberry Tales. You want to read The Millers Tale, but you don't want to read the middle english version, because you don't understand it, so you rush off and read the modern version. So, this happends to be the same thing when it comes to dealing with watching or reading some form of entertainment. So, for instance, lets say I put out a show in japanese, and then someone dubs it in.. spanish. People will prefer its original language, and then not accept the newer adaptation that is spanish. Now, if that spanish version has some good acting, good references , intact form of cultural references, then all of a sudden, people say "This is actually good, I like this as much as its original counter part.." Now an amazing discovery is shown, someone accepted a newer form of language because that individual thought it was good.

So, are either tracks superior? Hell no, neither is superior. I could have chosen to put my original track in itallian, and then have it turned into a different language because someone liked the pressentation or something interesting about that show. Feeligns are conveyed in diffferent ways, language represented in different ways as well. So neither option of language or creative intent is superior. In fact, the only thing superior is the fact that my work is recognized enough to give it some shed of light somewhere else. This in turn makes someone else want to take a look at my work, and take it for what it is.

What am I getting at you ask? Really, I am actually not sure, just felt a need to write this in hear.

I guess... I have seen the age old original format vs modified version everywhere as of late, so I felt the need to put my thoughts somewhere.

Honestly, giving both a chance, and watching or reading both in different language is a treat. To me, it has to be herendously awful to undertake. For instance, Shrine of the Morning Priestess. Hell, I tried watching both of those shows in its offered language tracks, but I couldn't get into it. Were either language tracks superior, fuck no, I just didn't care for the show. Does that mean, the cultural references in either version was my drawing point, hell no. Did it mean I chose the acting over another valid acting preference over another? Again, hell no.

I must admit though, I like some original content, but it never deters me from playing/listening/reading other forms of its content .

I give one more example.

Athena Asumiya from KOF Maximum Impact 2/KOF 2006. I like her japanese voice better, why is that you ask> The english voice actor just feels out of place, and so on. Now then, does that deter me from playing the english track of the game? Hell no, I still play it. The same things may be said over and over, but this is the same with japanese. Now, lets say Alba Mira, from the same game. I like both his voice tracks. Both are done well, and do the job that needs to be done. So, it may be a matter of opinion, but as a whole, I never deter from enjoying the piece of media for what it is. It was made to be played, so I play it, whether it be in english or in japanese. This goes for any source of media, whether it be reading something, writing something, and or watching something, just view/write/read it in some form. Its just beautiful for what it is.

That my friends, is the randomness for today. Take it for what you will. If you wish to skip over all of it, thats fine too, because the writer spent two hours rewriting this post. The last half of this post was geared for something else, but... I decided to handle it another way. With that said.. I bid you farewell!

Leave Foz!
