It's a good thing I went down those stairs ...

Had a very nice time in Cambridge today.  Kilteer unfortunately had to work this morning, and I didn't want to stay home by myself.  After determining that my friend E-- was also suffering from the "Saturday nothings," we made plans to meet for lunch in Cambridge.

Let's start by saying that the Orange Line was FUCKED UP today.  Because the commuter rail only runs every 4 hours on the weekends, I ended up playing Take Every GD Service That The T Offers Game.  I took a bus from my house to Oak Grove station.  From Oak Grove, I took a train to Wellington Station.  At Wellington, I had to take another bus to Haymarket, where I was finally allowed to get away from the bus/train loop.

From Haymarket I took the Green Line to Park Street, where I changed to the Red Line.  And then I took the Red Line to Harvard Square Station.

Jesus Christ on a pogo stick.

Once in Cambridge, though, things settled down nicely.  We met at Pandemonium, where I purchased the 10th Anniversary Edition of Guy Gavriel Kay's Tigana and the new Order of the Stick t-shirt.  And yet another set of dice. (Red with gold swirls, in case you wondered.)

Shopping was followed by lunch at John Harvard (I had nachos, he had a bacon cheeseburger).  And then we just wandered aimlessly around Cambridge before walking down to Kendall.  Lovely conversation.

All in all, not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

But then, once I got at Kendall, I was accosted by a presumably homeless man in a wheelchair, who was begging for change at the entrance of the station.  As it is not my habit to give change to these people, I started down the stairs.  And then he said, the homeless wheelchair man, "Since you're going down those stairs, I guess you're safe."

Wait, what?  What are you going to do, tumble down after me? I guess it's a good thing I went down the stairs.
