Hmm, so I have just finished reading my old entries from the past couple of years, which sounds like a lot but really was only about half a dozen. (That speaks volumes for how much I update this thing.) Anyway, wow, it is strange to read my concerns and worries from two years ago with the hindsight that I have now. Everything worked out and worked out so well, in some ways perhaps better than I could have imagined. I am very lucky to say that I am doing wonderfully. I encountered last night that not all people can say that.
My ex from high school called me out of the blue, wanting to get together and hang out. I hadn't talked to or seen him in over six years. While apprehensive, I met him last night, got a drink, and chatted it up. It was weird--I was looking at the same person but speaking to a stranger. We have both changed, of this I am certain, but we have changed in ways that are on opposite ends of the spectrum. To state it simply, we live in different worlds.
It is surreal to think that he was my world for a while in high school, and now he is a complete stranger. Life takes us in directions that we would never imagine.
I must say though that I am reminded how lucky I am--lucky to love my life and have blessings. One of those blessings, one of the biggest, is the love of my life. He helps me become a better person or, at the least, more of the person that I hope to be.
Other big news that I am stoked to share is that I am going to be PUBLISHED! Real-world publication, not just my newspaper articles that I wrote for high school and college newspapers. My article was selected for publication in a "real-world" academic journal.
So anyway, I get stressed out still, if not more. Some people think I have changed and am not the same-old, always-sweet me. Maybe I am not. I have bad days, am not perfect, and don't always feel lucky. But you know what? Things could be worse, and overall I am happy.
