O.A.R.!

May 18, 2004 00:39

Tonight was awesome, awesome, awesome. Here's a rundown, bc it was definitely crazy:

5:00pm-Leave for King of Prussia.
6:30-Finally get there, shop a little, eat, then drop off our bags at the car.
7:00-Wait in line to go see O.A.R. since there already is a line.
7:05-Realize it isn't worth it since the concert doesn't start until 10, step outta line then walk around the mall.
8:30ish-Get back to Hollister, ask an event guy how they're working it, asks what kind of card I have, "Platinum," I say, soon to find out Meg and I get escorted to a "special" V.I.P. line, because I've spent so much money at Hollister! There was literally 7 people including us. And then he tells us, we get to meet the band and get autographs. We start freaking out. Meghan calls everyone she knows and more. The girls in front of us were just like us too. So we talked with them for a while.
8:45 ish-Meg and I went to the bathroom together like girls do and she's still in such a panic about how excited she is, throws this girl she doesn't even know her purse, runs to the bathroom and ran right into a door. My excitement skyrocketed bc of how much I was laughing.
9:15-We got cool backstage passes. Then they slowly let us in to listen to soundcheck. There was a tiny little stage, all acoustic set in the middle of Hollister. We are in the very front. It was awesome.
9:30-Sound check over autograph time begins. Meg and I, #1 and #2 in line. Met all the guys, so down to earth, all shook hands and had a mini-convo, no lie.
10:00-In the very front, knees touching the stage, w/ the girls we were in line with. O.A.R. played an awesome set. As good as they could in a little store. It was really chlosterphobic, but so personal.
11:00-They played "Crazy Game of Poker" the only song I wanted to hear and I was set. Up until assholes that were being annoying talked a lot and made the band not able to hear and had to cut it short.
11:15-Encore, one song I didn't know, then they busted out "Black Bird" and it was amazing.
11:30-Out of Hollister madness w/ Meg not believing what we just experienced. Holy shit. Oh yeah, and realizing we each left w/ a guitar pic, a towel, and a water. haha

It was an insane night. I heart Hollister very much. I'm so out of it, this entry may not make any sense. But I had a fucking blast. O.A.R. was such an awesome down-to-earth band. I almost cried during this one...

I Feel Home

There are few things pure in this world anymore,
and home is one of the few.
We'd have a drink outside,
maybe run and hide if we saw a couple men in blue.
But to me it's so damn easy to see
that true people are the people at home.
Well I've. been away but now I'm back today,
and there aint a place I'd rather go.

I feel home,
when I see the faces that remember my own.
I feel home,
when I'm chillin outside with the people I know.
I feel home,
and that's just what I feel.
Home to me is reality,
and all I need is something real.

Feelin alright, headin out tonight,
maybe off to a dark driveway.
I say now some feel bored,
and some are lookin for more.
Well, we all just decide to stay.
We got nothin to do,
and I look at you
I see something that I know and love.
and with the crack of a smile we all stay a while
we know from home there aint nothing above.

Well in the end we can all call a friend
well that's something I know as true.
And then a thousand years and a thousand tears
I'll come back to my original crew

cuz to me throughout eternity
there's somewhere where you're welcome to go
I said it's something free that means a lot to me
when I'm with my friends I feel home.

I feel home,
when I see the faces that remember my own
I feel home,
when I'm chillin outside with the people I know.
I feel home,
and that's just what I feel.
because home to me is reality,
and all I need is something real
Home to me is reality,
and all I need is something real

I feel home.
