Vakantie! Oh such bliss. Eindelijk even wat anders aan m'n hoofd dan school. Serieus, ik had de afgelopen maanden gewoon geen leven meer, zo druk was ik (moest ik zijn) voor m'n studie. Maar tot nog toe lijkt het het wel waard te zijn gelukkig, hoewel ik de belangrijkste cijfers pas na de vakantie terugkrijg. Met name één cijfer, voor Cultuur Latijns-Amerika. Die ben ik nu aan het herkansen nadat ik er vorig jaar een 4 voor kreeg. Au. Maar ik moet nog maar zien of het dit jaar beter wordt. Het is eigenlijk gewoon niet te doen, drie vakken in één blok. En welke slimmerd heeft er dus vrijwillig voor het derde blok drie vakken ingepland? Dus. En ik ben er helemaal voor ontmoedigd nu ik de literatuurlijst heb gezien voor één van die vakken. Ik moet gewoon even acht (!) romans in het Spaans lezen binnen een tijdsbestek van twee maanden, wat neerkomt op een boek per week. Wat gewoon niet mogelijk is, hoe graag ik het ook zou willen. Laat staan dat ik ongetwijfeld voor die andere vakken nog een vergelijkbare lading leeswerk krijg voorgeschoteld. Dus ik denk eigenlijk dat we dat ambitieuze plan maar even moeten laten voor wat het is. Maar goed, van latere zorg, vooralsnog vakantie! Niet dat ik nu vrij heb ofzo hoor, nee joh gekkerd, de kerstvakantie is toch juist de tijd bij uitstek om extra opdrachten en leeswerk mee te geven aan studenten? Dus ik mag nu alsnog lekker presentaties schrijven, boeken lezen, verslagen maken en meer van dat soort onzin. Het leven van een student is zwaar, klaag klaag, yap yap, etc. Gelukkig ook genoeg leuke dingen ingepland. Net een paar daagjes bij m'n broer & vriendin in Utrecht geweest, da's altijd heerlijk ontspannen. Daarvoor nog thuis met hun en m'n ouders kerst gevierd, ook heel gezellig natuurlijk. Met Oud & Nieuw natuurlijk stappen, 4 op 5 januari een reünie met de vakantiemensen van anderhalf jaar geleden. Dus ik vermaak me wel hoor. Sorry voor eventuele rateligheid, maar ik weet van gekkigheid niet meer wat ik moet schrijven na zo lang niet te hebben ge-update. In ieder geval,

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Have a videoconference with a girl from Chile. Read real Spanish novels.

2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions and will you make more for next year?
I can't even remember what they were. Maybe I'll think of some, though that'll probably be all. Just think of them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, my aunt.

5. What countries did you visit?
Spain, twice.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Maybe a room in Utrecht...? Preferably one close to my brother :)

7. What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
12th of August, the day my dad had his heartattack. All of July, when I was in Madrid ♥

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Putting so much time and hard work into my studies.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Completely stressing out every now and then.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Just a cold :)

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Presents, i love shopping for presents.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My mom's, for being able to cope with so many problems this year and still be her optimistic self. Thank you mom!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
No one's!

14. Where did most of your money go?
Spain, haha.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Madrid! And thankfully it turned out to be as great as I had hoped it to be.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Jarabe de Palo - Bonito, one of the songs that remind me of Madrid ♥

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: Happier or sadder? Thinner or fatter? Richer or poorer?
I don't think anything has changed here, though it's hard to judge. Everything's different, I've changed, people around me have changed, but the overall picture remains more or less te same I guess.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Read more books for fun, seeing my friends, doing things I like, enjoying the little things in life, being optimistic.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Stressing out, lacking selfconfidence.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent first Christmas day with my parents, brother and his girlfriend, second Christmas day at their place.

21. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Once again, no.

23. How many one-night stands?
A one-night stand? Me? Right.

24. What was your favourite TV program?
Passion for Fashion I guess. Mostly movies though.

25. Are you angry at anyone now that you weren't angry at this time last year?
I'm rarely angry with anyone.

26. What were the best books you read?
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.

27. What was your greatest musical (re)discovery?
Acda & De Munnik, The Kooks, Room Eleven, Marit Larsen, Scissor Sisters, Bebe, Estrella Morente, Fatboy Slim.

28. What did you want and get?
To succesfully continue my studies.

29. What did you want and not get?
Utter happiness and contentness. Though that'd probaly be boring anyway :)

Volver

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Late at night I returned from a Juanes concert, by day I had to go to University. I turned 19.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I don't think I'd really want to change anyting, things go the way they go and we all learn from them.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Okay. Not too wild and outspoken, but not a grey mouse either. Well groomed.

34. What kept you sane?
My mother. General faith.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hmm I'm not much of a celebrity-fancier. Still, I wouldn't kick Jude Law out of my bed.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The whole game of politics itself.

37. Who did you miss?
The girls.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
The people from Madrid.

My motto is: Everything is relative.

Have you made any new friends this year? Sort of, yes.

Have you lost any of them? Not really I guess.

What was the best experience you made with a friend this year? There's this girl in my year and we didn't really know eachother that well, but she'd always given me the impression of being arrogant. In Madrid we were in the same class and she turned out to be a really great girl!

Do you trust your friends? Yes.

Who had the greatest impact on your life? My parents I guess.

Have you fallen in love with many people in 2006? None.

What was your most painful experience this year? Nothing painful this year!

Fun things

Have you travelled in 2006? To Madrid, Toledo, Málaga and Granada.

Did you have a class you liked a lot? The classes In Madrid.

Have you discovered a new talent? Can't think of anything.

Did you learn anything new? Tons of things! My Spanish has improved greatly and I've learned more about the Spanish literature, linguistics and so on. And also a bit of self-development here and there :)

Have you done something funny? Undoubtedly so.

Did you do something you always wanted to do? Go to Spain for the first (and second!) time.

Sad things

Have you lost anyone dear to you in 2006? Yes.

Have you cried a lot this year? No.

What was the worst experience? Seeing my dad suffer.

Have you developed any new tics/obsessions? I've started biting my nails again...

Have you hurt a person? Not that I hope or know of!

Did you change your style? It's evolved a little, nothing radical though.

Are you going to move? If so, where? Who knows to Utrecht. Nothing planned yet though.

What do you wanna do the most in 2007? See my friends more, go to Spain again, see more live flamenco performances, be happy.

Are you afraid of anything? Sure, but nothing realistic.

What would you like to change? Nothing.

Anything you are definitely going to change? I hope so. Not that I'm not happy with myself now, but a little change here and there is always good :) We'll see what next year has in store for us!
