Yeah, the time thousands of years ago when everything was amazing and magical before the Dragonblooded usurped the Solars, the Contagion hit, the fair folk invaded, and everything went to shit long enough for a fuckton of knowledge and artifacts to be lost. Like this boat! It's awesome!

People just worked to get better technology, even when they used it to kill each other. Old things can sometimes be found buried under the new if you look hard enough. That never interested me, though.

Yeah, we used to have all kinds of crazy awesome stuff. Like airships and regular ships, but way bigger and better ones than the ones we have now, and, uh . . . other stuff, you know, artifacts and stuff. My dad found a couple of cool things like that already, and there's a bunch more scattered around but that's not really my thing.

We didn't have airships, but we had airplanes, boats, and they were working on a way to clone living people. My parents are pretty good geneticists.

Yeah, all that stuff's been done. But only a few guys can like, replicate it or remake it or whatever. 'Cause the originals were built by Solars who had mad wealth and workforces and there isn't that much stuff available these days, plus everybody's too busy trying to get rid of Deathlords and pacify the Yozis to just invent stuff.

I guess, but I never really thought about it. That's the only place to live in I've ever known, you know?
