In ASOIF, every main character has a sidekick. The sidekick might change - another character might replace her/him and they're "secundary characters", even if they can be very important/ more popular than the main character he/she is related to.
Dany has Jorah, then Ser Barristan. Arya has Syrio then Gendry and in ASOS Sandor. Tyrion has Bronn and Penny. Sansa has Jeyne Poole & Sandor & her false Florian, Dontos, Littlefinger, Randa & Mya Stone...
However, it looks like HBO has made Sansa a secundary character in her own plotline. Actually, it feels like she's a secundary character in Joffrey's plotline. Or Cersei's. So I guess we shouldn't be that much surprised her own "sideckicks" have been reduced to near silence. The Hound is in the book quite an interresting character. Now on the TV show, he's a "secundary character" in a secundary character's storyline.
I think both the Hound & the Little Bird AND Sophie & Rory deserved better.
Also, it is possible than the producers prefer the Tyrion/Sansa storyline. As far as I am concerned, I find it PAINFUL to read for BOTH Tyrion & Sansa. Tyrion wants love and Sansa just can't fully trust him as he's a Lannister and she just want to go out from this hell.
As for the Littlefinger/Sansa storyline, it is interresting but a lot creepier than Sansan ever was.
Yes, Sandor is always drunk and scary, but Sansa knows she can trust him as he will never lie to her and she longs for him after he's gone. I won't say it is a love story (even if the shipper in m says so) but THERE IS A SORT OF friendship there, a twisted knight/lady story, epic and amazing and loved by the fans and HBO totally ignored it.
Remember that picture we saw days ago? I bet they cut that scene too. More time for Ros that way.
And during this time, Sansa & Sandor are enjoying some lemoncakes in the Blackfish & the Reeds' company.
*sighs*
Shame on you, HBO. Shame on you.
