My ratty, Wendy died today. She was the first rat that we purchased (we got Fleur a few weeks later). I think we only had her a year and a half or so. She was our black dumbo rat, was very shy when we first got her, but slowly tamed up. She had a bad habit of nesting behind furniture and hiding peanuts around the house.
I noticed she had been acting odd a few weeks back, I knew she was getting old so i thought she was just feeling her age (less active, a bit of balding fur) but she declined very quickly. 2 days ago she lost a large amount of weight seemingly over night, and was literally just bones when you touched her, she also has a distended belly which made her look fatter than she really was which may of explained why I did not noticed the loss of weight quicker. Adam and I figured she must of had a tumor, as that is common in female rats, and we guessed she had only about a month or so left. Yesterday she looked even worse and the poor thing could hardly walk or drink water but she still wanted to be petted and explore the living room.
We have two other Babies still, both in good shape. I just hope they aren't too sad to lose their sister.
