Program 6 - Heat

Dec 13, 2011 15:47

Like most of Mayfield, Sunny's preparing for the worst after hearing that phonecall, and realizing the power is definitely acting odd.  And although the tree down at the park has caught her attention today as she moves about, perhaps due to who she's lived with over her short life, she's ignoring her curiousity about it for the moment in favor of ( Read more... )

Do you need any help?

[The girl, oddly, is not scavenging for food or clothing, but for seemingly useless scraps of metal using a makeshift cart. Bazett does not understand why the child is focusing on these items instead of the more obvious ones.]

[Sunny jolts a bit, since she was trying not to be caught, but calms down after a moment when she realizes the question that was asked. Giving a vague smile, she sort of shakes her head.]

N-no I think I g-got it.

Alright...

Why scrap metal?

[Sunny seems confused at that, then giggles a little]

It-it's not the metal I'm l-looking for. It's the wiring inside.

Oh? What for? Wouldn't it be better to look for food instead?

Heat. I c-can make a space heater if I have the r-right materials.

...Good idea.

[Bazett herself has not thought of doing something like that because she has no idea how to use human technology. Even if she was to find a heater, she would probably not be able to use it without blowing something up. Instead, she plans to make a bonfire in the living room with unneeded furniture or other types of trash.]

Do you have enough food or clothing, though?

[If she were to tell Sunny that, Sunny would note that the idea is bad; very bad. But she nods softly]

I t-think so. S-Sanguinius will make sure we do I'm s-sure.

Good.

[If the girl had enough basic necessities, she can understand how the child has time to spare on making heaters.]

I wish I was as good with technology as you are.

U-um, I c-can make you one wh-when I'm done. B-but you'd need to g-get the parts.

No thanks. I wouldn't know how to use it.

[Not without lots of trial and error during which she might damage the precious device.]

...I can still help you get parts, though.

A-alright. Do you k-know what you're l-looking for?

answerer_sword December 15 2011, 03:06:52 UTC
...Not really.

[All scrap metal looked the same to her.]

Can you tell me?

[Sunny smiles and nods, showing Bazett exactly what she's looking for]

I-if you're not s-sure, j-just ask, or put it in the w-wagon anyway and I can sort it later.

Okay.

[She flips through the garbage pile, digging through the masses of decaying foodstuffs and damaged household items. The only thing she finds that looks vaguely electric is a broken blender.]

Will this do?

[Sunny looks over, and takes it from Bazett, turning the blender to the bottom to inspect it. As the bottom portion does seem intact, she nods.]

Mmhm! S-some of the wires s-should still work.
