It's great to see another chapter read-through up! :D Hm, I'd forgotten that there were actually some interesting ideas in COPL amid all the... other stuff. That's a good point about how Wolverton did a decent job with his Old Republic Jedi backstory in lieu of prequel info - especially compared with some of the other attempts in the Del Ray era. (Hambly, I'm looking at you). And his Han characterisation did have its moments, if you pretended the 'forcibly abducting Leia' thing never happened. I love the part with the puddles. :p
The Jedi academy starship seems to have been oddly ignored by later works - you'd think it'd be an obvious setting for Old Republic-era Jedi adventures
( ... )
I can't figure out why there hasn't been a Chu'unthor trilogy yet. I mean, how cool would that be?
I like your theory! Maybe in addition to the academy ships, the Order had an embassy or office on Coruscant for the last few centuries, since it is the capital. They could let the Republic know what they were up to from here, and coordinate efforts when needed. When Palpatine (and I love this connection - it fits his plans perfectly) suggested moving all the Jedi to Coruscant, either he used the embassy as an example of why it wouldn't be such a big change, or they actually added onto the building to construct the Temple.
Oh man, I loved the Whuffa part when I read the book. What the f**k, LOL. They use it for rope, what the HELL. LOLOLOL. The Nightsisters are so crazy. But they ride Rancors and that is bad ass.

Spaceship Academies would've been very cool. Certainly more cool than the ridiculous atrocity of this book... yrch.

Spaceship Academies is one of the few totally awesome things to come out of this book, and it's a shame the rest of the book couldn't live up to them.
