This past weekend was interesting. I was at home in GRap for my brother's grad party. My mom was starting to stress about it, so I was there as reinforcement. So during the night before, I woke up to this HUUUUUUGE crack of lightning, it sounded like it was on top of me. But then I went back to sleep. The next morning I awoke to people shouting/panicing at each other, so I decided I should probably get up and see what's going on. Apparently, the fuse box was smoking and we didn't have water, because the lightning hit the well about 20 ft from our house. Yes, we have well water. Ummmmmm so yeah, bad timing, to say the least. So everyone was freaking out. My dad called an electrician guy, who came with an extra part (bc he thought that would fix it), but then took a look at the well and told us the lightning had fried the entire well and the lines running to the house. So we wouldn't have water for a few days. Grrrreeeeeat. So my brother really started freaking, I went to the grandparents' to shower/pick up chairs for the party, and my dad went to work to try to figure out the water situation. We sent out a message to all the guests, and we were just going to use some buckets to refill the toilets after they were flushed, but my dad came up with the ingenious idea to run a hose from the neighbors outside faucet to our outside faucet, to put water back INTO the house, instead of out from the faucet like it normally flows. Don't worry, we asked first. And miraculously, we had water. Not toooo much pressure, but enough. So the party went off without any major problems, and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Near the end though, a HUGE thunderstorm came through, which scared off a few friends, so the party hit a low point, but luckily it was wrapping up anyway. We ended up with a TON of extra food though...about 10 pounds of cheese cubes included. Hooray for free/easy dinners for the next few nights.
I got to stop by MSU on the way back to A2 to see Kyle and Chip, but only for a few hours. :( I wont have a car for the next 2 weeks, and he starts his job, so hopefully we can find some time to visit in there...
I also start work for real tomorrow. 9:30-7...wooooo hoo.
