Hello my friends- I am back to livejournal for another update. Usually even though I don't update- I still check everyone else's entries. Well I just went on and I'm even behind on those. I am home for Thanksgiving and hoping I'm able to calm down. So much is going on in my life. But I feel like if I start talking to someone, I'll overwhelm them.

Okay! I say check ads and read up and pre-pare for black friday I recomend getting one then because you can probably get a good deal on it and stuff like software to go with/on it. Places to check FRY's (it has the rare deal), brandsmart(same), Best Buy, Comp USA, and these are all located by Gwinett mall. Also look @ the Dell site I got mine from the Dell outlet a couple of years ago for less than a brand new one would have cost. I used some of the saved $ to pay for a 2yr accidental service plan (they come and fix your compy) which has helped me since I'm not good at fixing hardware.
Specks to pay attention to are:
-RAM more then 512 ram/memory(the more here the faster, I'd recomend 1 gig, but 512 can do),
-Hardrive (larger rpm=faster opening, larger gigs=more to hold)laptops hold a lot less than desktops
-Processor-Research which is better for laptops and what your doing (documents verses games and picture editing) plus there's a new thing out recently, that makes it be able to run twice the amount of stuff @ once. that's one of the neat new things you should go for. You don't nessarily anything over about 2.8 is not really needed with the new prosessors (from my brother)
-Video card- get one if your dealing with graphics alot I think there's one usually installed but look I have 128mbs but that's on the high end for the laptops, I think.
-USB ports you use em to plug in everything so be aware of how many are there, some laptops only have one or two.
-For laptops keep in mind weight, size, and battery life too.
-Look for a dvd writer in it, I know it seems fancy but a dvd/cd burning combo is standard today, there's dual layer(twice the amount of stuff on a single dvd + different discs, speed and, + or - types.
Operating systems- I recomend if you want to spend a little more go for the Windows XP Professional verses Home. Professional is made to handle networks(like ones at schools) better. I'd wait a year to get vista because it's still probly buggy (it's coming out soon, to replace XP).
