Life usually has a way of getting busy when you least expect - I think that is to keep us all on our toes! Anyway, I've had a bunch of job interviews over the past month and was offerred a job at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott last week after my second round of interviews there. After a lot of contemplation, I realized that I should take the job because it will offer the most experience that I can hope to get for a recent college grad. It pays slightly less than I had hoped so money may be a bit tight for a bit, but that is the only negative thing about it. The official title of the job is "Events Coordinator" and I get to do all kinds of cool things around the hotel. The people I'll be working with seem very friendly and the atmosphere is nice. And its in Philadelphia, the "City of Brotherly Love"...which is where I've been hoping to move to for almost the past year. My friend Jackie, from UD, and I (and possibly her friend from UD) are looking for apartments together.
Honestly, I never imagined I'd live in a city after I graduated, even a few years ago. NYC terrifies me (not really sure why)...but I just get a different vibe from Philly. I think its comforting to think that I know Philly a little better (although I can guarantee that I will get lost at least 3 times a day during the first month I live there) but even more so that all my friends from school are only 45 minutes away, as are a lot of other friends in NJ. Plus, Jac's family is only like a 30 minute drive away and they are way cool. All in all, I really think it will be a good change of scenery. The only thing holding me back from being all-out excited about it is that I haven't heard back from the other two places where I've interviewed and I'm just dreading the idea that one of those two places might give a better offer, one that I can't turn down. I guess that is how life works though, taking and just hoping like crazy that it was the best choice possible.
Bottom line is, I head down to NJ/DE on Monday night, am at the hotel all day long Tuesday-Thursday, and then Jac and I are looking at apartments on Friday and possibly Saturday. Hopefully by the time I come home next weekend, we'll have a lease signed and a move-in date set.
Craziness. No one, not anyone, can ever predict what paths life will take you down...and thank God for that, it just makes the whole ride more interesting.
