I think this is about the longest I've ever gone in between posts...since I started livejournal, I'm fairly convinced. Anyway, I just hopped on to say that those of you who hunger and thirst for the pictures I had of you from the last two parties can satisfy yourselves on Facebook. Normally I would post at least a few of them here, but photobucket has abandoned me in my hour of need, so no pictures for you.
Um...I suppose since I've opened this entry I feel compelled to at least tell everyone a little something about the last month or two. Um...I still haven't heard back from the two law schools I applied to yet. UW and Seattle U, before you ask, and I suppose that's not completely true. Seattle U sent me a postcard--dated over a month ago that I just received--that they had finally processed my application and had all of my stuff. UW hasn't even given me that much to go on...although I called them a while back just to double check because I was starting to worry that I'd left something out.
Work continues, interesting and funny as usual. I like it there. Working 40 hours a week strangely has not made me feel much more grown-up, but I am tireder now than I used to be, and it's harshing the vibe on my social life to a certain extent. But still, the people are kind and entertaining, often both, and I feel comfortable. I've been doing what I do for a while now, and I actually am starting to sort of know what I'm doing. I usually fake it, but it's starting to be true. That's...refreshing. We had an audit and apparently did okay, since we're still in operation. We've got another one coming at the end of the month that is reportedly going to make the other one seem like weak sauce, so there's that to look forward to. We've also been setting record numbers for weeks in a row...more donors just keep coming in the door. As a reward for breaking records, they gave us Captain Plasmo t-shirts...I swear to God. He looks like a cross between a giant drop of pee and the KoolAid man. It's hilarious. We all wore them to work for casual Friday.
I started the Whatcom County Young Democrats finally. We had one general meeting on the 18th and elected officers. Our next general meeting will be held after the State Convention next weekend. That, by the by, is going to be a ton of fun. I'm running for office again- Chiho's job as Comm Director will be open, since he'll be running for ExecVP-- so there will be epic boozing. One thing you learn to do quickly in the Dems is to buy as many votes as you can with free alcohol, so...yes...we'll be throwing a party or two. I'll also (regretably) be sitting on the Platform Committee with Annie since as chair of a new chapter I need to have at least one representative on one committee. Not that hanging out with Annie isn't awesome, but Platform is a constant struggle and boring at the same time. Also often 3-4 hours long. Yeah.
What else, what else? I got a contact lens exam for the first time in about 3 years. Anyone wonder why I've been wearing glasses all the time lately? Well, that's why. But I went in, and she gave me some trial contacts before my follow up...and they are amazing. You know that feeling you have when you get glasses for the first time and suddenly you can see the individual leaves on trees and grass blades and shit? It was like that all over again! It had been so long since I got an exam that my old prescription was weak. So, now I can see crazy-good.
I'm kind of sad I'm not going to be spending Easter with my family. I think this is the first year almost ever that I won't be at my aunt's house gorging myself on ham and potatoes. It's just too much work to drive down, and I got the feeling we weren't really having a get-together this year. Le sigh. I'll call the fam tomorrow, but for the actual day I'll just be chilling up north.
I need to read more books. And I need to finish writing my story. Once I finish it, maybe I'll start calling it a 'novel.' Not yet, though. We'll see.
Happy Easter, everyone!
