so it's been more than a week till the concert but i've just not made it to write everything up..two of the probably best days this year

The day before we went to the arena for an hour, just to see where exactly it is and if anyone of the band had arrived already for soundcheck. there were just a few people outside, but inside they were working their ass off to build up the awesome stage. we didn't get in unfortunately, so left and got ready at my friend's home. i just slept about 3 hours, and got up at 2 am. we packed the car with everything we'd need for the day, and then left the house at about 2.30 am. arrived at the arena at 3 am, it was still dark outside and it was raining, not a very good start of the day. there were two main entrances where you could get in with GA (general admission) tickets, and when i saw a few people i knew in front of one entrance we joined them. we brought lots of food, hot tea because it was freaking cold outside, two blankets and two pillows. there were 6 people waiting already, who were really nice and friendly, got to know them pretty well after waiting more than 13 hours with them. it was still raining but we didn't get wet as we build ourselves a huge "plastic tent" around us lol (we came REALLY prepared). at around 5 more people came and joined the queue, but only at maybe 8 we were more than 40 people, after that people came pretty much all the time. we were able to get out and go to the toilet every now and then, some people even went to mcdonalds for about an hour and then went back to their place in the queue. people were relaxed, i realy like the U2 fans, they don't make such a fuzz about waiting like the robbie fans.basically, it was just long, boring and everything in my body pretty much hurt after the 13 hours were over.

then (30 minutes later than planned) we finally got in, for some reason i was the second person in line. one guy checked my ticket and usually the woman next to him takes a look into your bag. but she didn't seem to want to do anything, so i just started to run...run..run..run..i ran my ass off, i never sprinted like that, it was so damn hard after sitting there for 13 hours. we first had to run through a really long tunnel. lots of people were overtaking me already, i was just not fast enough. then i lost my jacket, so i stopped. someone right in front of me lost his jacket as well, and i just screamed at him "hey you just something" and he just screamed back "i don't care, just leave it there" lool. how crazy people can get in such a moment, its really funny. people behind me were also screaming "RUN RUN RUN RUN" all the time, it was insane. when i was inside finally, i still had to run a whole football ground. when i was almost at the last barrier, which lets you into the FOS (front of stage), some guy came to me and said "don't run, you're the first", i just looked at him and with my last breath said "yeah right, more than 20 people just overtook me" i was really pissed off. anyway, at that point i saw my friend already at the rail in front of the right b-stage, apparently she was the first one who ran into the arena, must have been really weird being the first to be let in hehe. so i stood right next to her, and sat down immediately. my whole throat was burning, i couldn't breath and my stomach hurt. i was really miserable, but i was in front row, yaaaay.

2 hours more waiting, till the first support-band took the stage. The Thrills. there were good, not great, but good, the sound was annoying though, it was just loud and you couldn't even hear the singer. about an hour after that, Feeder started their little show. i thought they were really good, have to start getting some of their songs. so after 5 hours inside the arena, it was finally 9 pm and not long till U2 would start. they were doing the mexican wave thing all over the arena, the party was about to start and it was actually really really nice standing there. we were able to get out and to the toilet without any problems of getting back to our first row spot.

at around 9.30 pm the show started. they mostly stayed on the front stage, but adam, larry and bono all were on our b-stage a few times. bono first came over for "sometimes you can't make it on your own". i started crying, it was just too much for me. there he was, right in front of me and his microphone was shaking because he was singing with so much emotion. then he wildly started to dance around during "love & peace or else" on our stage. that was the time for me to hold up my banner. i wrote "let me be the first blond girl on stage this tour" on it. a few people behind me were already complaining, but i held it up anyway. bono saw it and smiled at me. i was in heaven hehe, he has a really amazing smile.

he didn't come back to us till "Yahweh". "mysterious ways" was already done by then, so my chance was pretty much gone, ah well didn't really care much. at the end of the song he sang "take this heart.." then he looked at me and my hand went to my heart, then he put his hand on his heart as well. "..don't let it break". my friend next to me just said "HE SANG TO YOU!!!" loool, i couldn't believe it. after the song he said that because of that special occasion (the debt cancellation that just happend a day before), it was a good night to play "Party Girl"!! YEESSS!! i was screaming like mad, that's exactly what i was waiting for! it's not really my favourite song but it sounded so cool when they played it live in Boston. he totally grinned at me when he saw how i was basically freaking out in the audience right in front of him. he had quite some problems with the text, which was really funny, and nobody that was next to me really knew the song, but i never stopped singing along hoping he would at some point find his way back into the song, which he did of course.

a exhausting but totally amazing day ended with Vertigo. it was great, we had the time of our lifes in there. we finally got home at around 2 am. had been up for more than 24 hours, but it was all totally worth it.

after sleeping till about 10 am, we drove to cologne. U2 were to perform in a german tv-show (TV Total) that evening, we didn't have any tickets, but still wanted to try and find them. we went to the Hyatt first, i was glad that my friend knew her way around cologne, made it a lot easier to find everything. when we drove up there we already saw about 20 people waiting, and we immediately knew we were at the right place. we parked the car and then went up to them. nobody had come out yet, but they were sure the band was staying there. so we sat down and waited (lots of waiting being done that weeked).

at about 1 pm, adam came out!!!!!! instead of getting into his car quickly, he came to us and gave everyone autographs and we were able to take a few pictures. i just told him "amazing show yesterday..we waited 13 hours outside" he just looked at me and said "that's insane" loool. then he drove off. next bono came out!!!! i was getting really nervous at that point, he was looking amazing, even though a bit tired and worn out somehow. we were later told that he had really bad back problems that day (he had 23 injections by a doctor later!!). anyway, there he was waving to us and then coming over. he started giving autographs at the other side of the row of people. when he finally came to us, i got an autograph then asked for a picture but he said he had to go to an interview and then got in his car and drove off.

after that, we quickly drove to the tv studios, and even though we were on the waiting list, we didn't get any tickets. so we waited outside and checked out, at which exit they would most probably come out. some security guy then told someone which exit they would use, so we waited there. a couple of others decided to wait at the exit which led directly to the street. i waited at a lattice, right at the point where they would come out of the studio. when the show was over, about 50 other fans joined me there. i was a bit sad, because i thought they would leave before everyone was coming out.

anyway, after waiting quite some time, larry's car appeared and drove off really quickly. mmh ok. next car was adam's. he told his driver to stop so he could get out and give autographs. he then came to us and gave lots of autographs. then another car stopped right behind his, and edge came out. yaay, haven't seen him yet today i just thought. when he came to me i handed him my light-green piece of paper..that was the only thing i still had which he could write on. he had a white sharpie in his hand at this time. he just said "mmh this may not work", then wrote his name on it, grinned at me and said "oh it does". you can't really see it clearly, but it's alright. while the two were giving autographs a car came up and drove away really quickly. nobody knew who was in there, we speculated it might have been bono though.

after they were gone, i went to my friends who were at the exit to the street, and they told me larry had stopped there for a few minutes and gave autographs, they also made a few pictures of him. adam also briefly stopped and said hello there. then everyone was gone, the guys drove to the airport, they had a concert in manchester the next day. we spend a few minutes talking to some other fans, got invited to a U2 tribute concert in a week, and then drove home. when we arrived at my friends house it was already 11 pm, and the show was broadcasted on tv. we watched what we had missed and then i drove home. another great day, got to know many nice people while waiting and we're planning the rest of the tour now.

in about a week we're going to london, still don't have tickets but we'll try anything to get in. then a week after that, we're in amsterdam, got tickets just a few days ago, so yaay another U2 concert, and this time right in front of the main stage. can't wait !!
