Dr. Alex's home remedy chiropractic practice

Wow.
I just realized I haven't posted in this thing almost allllll summer. Once or twice here or there, but nowhere near to the amount that I was at.

So I took Amanda home with me to Oscoda, and contrary to much popular belief, it is NOT a little hick town. It is bigger than Paw Paw, possibly. And the scenery is to die for. We got home on Friday evening, went out for Chinese w/ my parents and my dad's college roommate and his family. His wife was a little hard to understand because she's from Malaysia, but she was a super nice lady, and their son seems pretty smart ... shy, but smart. We went to their motel after dinner and played a couple games of pool and darts. Amanda kicked my ass at Mortal Kombat II. There was a family reunion going on in the pool area and there was a box of buttons, so I stole a few, all stealthy like. Then, my little sis decides that she wants one too and yells "OOOOHHHHH PINS!" So this lady is giving us nasty looks, and we decide it would be best if we left the room. As we were leaving, I swear to god I saw her get up and head over to my mom. Luckily, she didn't say anything to her ... I would feel bad if she had been embarrassed. But I know she would have just laughed it off with me later anyway. So now, Amanda and I are McLinden's at heart. We actually had some kid convinced in the hot tub that Amanda was part of his family.
KID: So, what side of the family are you on?
AMANDA: The right side.
KID: Oh, I'm on the Johnson's side. We were wearing the blue shirts.
AMANDA: Yeah, we were wearing the red shirts.
KID: Cool ... so where are you from?
AMANDA: Dude, I'm not really in your family.
KID: Oh.

Muy entertainido.

Saturday, we went to the art fair in Tawas. Amanda picked up a new Japanese tea cup and a button that says "I Never Met a Big Boy I Didn't Like" from this antique store. And I found out that my Japanese neighbor Tazu Pickett has some mad pottery skills. After the art fair, we came back home and Amanda and I went tubing down the Ausable for about 5 hours. My youngest sister tagged along too, but only because she whined her way into it. So I made Amanda and me some "special lemonade" (aka, a Nalgene bottle filled with pink lemonade and half a pint of Bacardi Razz rum) and right when we're in front of my dad, my sister goes "I want some lemonade!!!" I was like "No" and my dad said "Why can't she have any?" I was just like "Because it's mine ... it um .... has to last me for the whole trip." He caught on after he took a sip. But we let Jenny try a little anyway. "I don't like it ... that's gross." Oh, just keep thinking that Jenny!

It wasn't actually so bad having her tag along because she ended up pulling us the whole way. She started getting tired at the end, but Amanda told her she'd pay her a dollar to pull us all the rest of the way. She also told her she'd pay her a dollar if she ate some seaweed, which she did. Dumb sister ... lol, she never got so much as a dime from Amanda.

Sunday, I had to wake up super early so I could help my dad wax my car and change my oil before leaving ... and I had to be at work by 3:30. We left my house around 10:30 ... giving me 5 hours to get back to Kalamazoo. More than enough time considering it took me 3 and a half hours to make it up there on a Friday with 4 major construction areas. But no ... at 12:30, I hadn't even made it through Bay City yet. I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on I-75 from Standish all the way down to Flint. I called Matty, one of my managers at 12:30 to let him know I didn't think I'd be able to make it to work on time. I didn't end up getting home until 3:30, and I still had to get dressed and go back out to work after dropping Manda off. I only ended up being about 15 minutes late, but still, it took me exactly 5 hours to get home ... that was pretty sad, especially since the road commission doesn't work on Sundays. I don't understand how traffic was so backed up.

Anyway, I'm super happy about this week. I'm starting to get more hours at work, which means more money!!! Which means I can stop worrying about how often a month I can go grocery shopping or if I can afford to pay all my bills on time. This week, I work on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and I will probably babysit on Thursday, Monday and Tuesday. MEGABUCKS!!!!

And can I just say I've gotten mega-attached to Kaylee, Hannah and Nathan? Sheila is just so sweet to me ... she left me a card in my car the other day just to let me know how much she appreciates having me around.

Well ... I'm off to bed because tomorrow is the first day in a long time I will actually get to sleep in!!!! Yay!!! Everyone pray that I get at least 8 hours!!!
