Updating ... finally!

It has been soooo long it feels like since I've updated this, but I really haven't had much exciting to say. Either that or I just got too lazy to type it all down.

Anyway, so this past weekend has been awesome. Yeah, we were supposed to go camping or at least hang out in South Haven on Sunday, but that never happened because 1)we couldn't get a campsite on such late notice 2)we didn't round up enough people to go on such short notice and 3)it was raining super hard on Sunday. But Friday, Jess and I went with Josh and Ian to see Neal, Paul, Steve, and Tyler's band, The Holy August Emergency play at Skelletones ... now known as the End of the World Cafe ... in Grand Rapids. Well, Josh, Jess, Ian and I were walking around before the show to get money from the ATM down the street, and so many bums asked us for money on the way there. Josh said he was going to break out the half of a ham sandwich and fries he had sitting in his backseat and watch them all fight over it. Hahahah.

Well, the Fallen Idols were up first, and I really liked their sound. The next band kind of sucked though ... a little too screamy for my taste ... especially since I couldn't understand any of the words. And throughout the whole show, this weird guy with a buzz cut and glasses, with a flat back to his head and a plaid shirt kept staring at Jess and me. It was soooo creepy ... he kept looking around like he was waiting for someone, but that someone never came. And occasionally I would look across the room at Tyler, Steve, Neal, Josh and Ian who were sitting at the pool table, but he was kind of in the same line of vision, and he kept thinking I was looking at HIM! So he kept staring back, and later on, when Jess and I went outside, we were waiting for Paul to get there, and just talking, and he came right up behind Jess and just stood there watching her. CREEPY!!!! Haha, but while we were outside, we met a few bums ... well, they kind of came up to us and we couldn't really walk away ... Roosevelt was pretty cool, just seemed kind of depressed ... understandable. But then this other guy crossed the street and came up to us and started speaking in Creole! I couldn't understand a word. Then he would switch to English and ask "You understand what I am saying?" We were like "Um, noooo, not quite." So he progressed to trying to teach us Creole, but since we could barely understand even his English, we didn't learn too much. Then, while we were walking away to help Paul unload his drums, he yelled "Next time you're in Grand Rapids, you remember I taught you a little bit of Spanish." Jess and I just kind of looked at each other like "I thought he was teaching us Creole?" Hahhaa, crazy crazy bums.

After the show, we all went over to Tyler's because I guess he was having a party ... but not before we drove around for a half hour trying to find a place that had something besides a drive thru open so we could eat. We finally settled for Adobe and I have to say, I got the biggest wet burrito I have ever seen in my entire life. This thing must have had at least a half pound of cheese on it. But I ate the whole thing ... and about a half hour later, my stomach really regretted it. So we didn't end up staying at Tyler's long because they ran out of beer, and everyone else seemed to know each other, but we kind of stuck out ... and there really wasn't much room for so many people to be there. Plus, Jess had to work the next morning, and by the time they would have gotten more beer and we would have gotten drunk, it would have been way too late to drive home.

Saturday was great too. Nick invited me to come with him, his brother, his brother's girlfriend Betsy, Trevor, Trevor's girlfriend Eliza, and his friend Harvey to Cleveland to see the Indians play the Oakland A's. We got there a little early, so we tailgated for about an hour in the parking lot. It was great though because all we had to cook on was a George Foreman grill, and we had tried buying an AC adapter for it on the way there so we could just cook out of the car. Well, the only one everyone could afford was a 60 watt one, and the Foreman required 800 watts. So yeah, not gonna work. Well, we get to the parking lot and lo and behold, the booth at the entrance happens to have an outlet! So we ask the guy in charge of the parking lot if we can use the plug and offer him some burgers, hot dogs and brats. While Will was busy cooking as much food as he could fit on the Foreman, Nick, Eliza and I decided to play a little game of Kings ... and I proceeded to get fairly drunk. So we headed into the game and I'm wobbling a little. I have to say, we had pretty good seats ... about 5 rows away from the field right between right and center field. Nick kept getting beer and mixed drinks throughout the game, so that was keeping him pretty happy ... and these stupid kids kept making us get up so they could get past us ... so one time when they did it, Nick said to the oldest looking one "Hey, would you mind getting me another beer while you're up there? I'll be your best friend!" And when the kids came back, Nick said "Hey buddy, how's it going?" to the kid, and you know what? They didn't come past us again. Well, the Indians won, 10 to 7, and it was a very good game because they were down until about the 7th or 8th inning. Jacob's Field is an AWESOME place for a baseball game though, I have to say. It is humongous! And after the game, they had a fireworks show, and this was about 20 times better than any 4th of July fireworks show I've ever seen.

We didn't end up getting home until about 3:00 in the morning, and then I had to drive home from Nick's, so I got home around 3:30. I was so ready to just go to bed, but I ended up going over to Brian's and talking about why I was angry with him. So finally, around 5 am, I get to sleep, only to be woken up at 12 by Brian asking "Hey, what time is it?" I guess he had forgotten that he was supposed to work with his brother at his paintball store, so I left to go home, but I never took a nap or anything, so I was pretty tired by the time he picked me up to go to his dad's for dinner.

I am SOO glad it's Memorial Day and I don't have class today! Nothing exciting going on, but I'm planning on getting a nap in, cleaning my room, grocery shopping ... you know, all that fun stuff.
