Buffy started talking a little bit. But I really didn't want to hear it. So I didn't. I slammed my binder closed and walked to my bedroom window and climbed out. I went out onto the roof and Buffy wasn't that far behind. Hell she even followed me out onto the roof. If people were standing outside I could so here them saying don't jump!. I was on the third floor...not like I haven't jumped from here before. I dropped down and grabbed the ledge. I heard Buffy freak from the top. I looked over the top and shook my head then climbed down to the second floor level and from there I used the garden trellis the climb down the dropped down. Buffy had mentioned about taking that thing down since she found out that was what i used to climb down. If she did I would just use the window ledges and such or ya know just jump to get down. Climbing up isn't so hard because the ledges are easier to find from the bottom.
I heard Buffy yelling a few things from the roof. Like don't leave, come back and we will talk about this. I didn't really hear much..mainly cause I wasn't listening. Buffy had her meeting to get ready for. I wasn't sure who was all going to be there but so far there wasn't anyone really around for it. I didn't care either Buffy would probably tell me to stay in my room and whatever. I swear she still thinks I am a kid. I'm not you know. I'm 17 and a Senior!. Though walking out like that was a bit childish. But I was just not ready to deal with it. Plus she had her own stuff to deal with. It's just a bruise.. that's still there! Ugh..it's fading but I think even when there isn't a mark I will know its there.
I walked around town for a few hours. It was late when I left the house. I didn't have a watch but it had to be after midnight by now. So naturally all the stores where closed. Well for most people. I walked to one of the shops and looked at the window. I felt so much like smashing it in and having a little 100% discount all for my little lonesome but one of LA's finest pulled up behind and got out of his car and told me to turn around...
I turned around and naturally I put my hands where he could see them. He hadn't asked but just as I turned around he said it...then stopped when he noticed I had actually done so
Officer: "So you had to do this routine before?"
I rolled my eyes. Looks like this officer had just finished a coffee and doughnut run...what a piggy
"Well...lets just say I watch a lot of cops"
He didn't seem amused. He walked over to me and then went behind me and checked out the window to make sure it hadn't been tampered with. I felt like giving him a swift kick in the...
Officer: "All looks good here." He talked into his walkie talking then walked around to face me once again. "You can put your hands down..um, whats your name?"
Ya right I tell him my name and he makes a little note. I aint falling for that.
"My name...it's Summer..Winters. My mom remarried I say it's his fault."
Okay clearly that was a lie but he wrote it down anyway....what a moron.
"Okay well I will be on my way."
I went to leave and he stood in my way. I gave him a innocent smile and stayed still. "What seems to be the problem chief?"
Officer: "So what is it that your doing out here this late at night?"
I looked around and know one was in sight then I looked back up at him
"Just window shopping. You know since the stores closed. Sister was getting on my nerves and I needed some air. That's all and if you don't mind I will be on my way. I like getting some air alone.."
The officer made a few more notes before turning and getting back into his car. The fool actually bought it. I mean I wasn't going to break in or nothing like that but I guess I looked like someone who was thinking about it...okay I thought about it but I had already been there and done that.
Officer: "You take care now and stay out of trouble"
"You betcha"
I watched him drive off and I started walking again. I wasn't sure where I was going but I figured being downtown LA where there was a bunch of street lights and all would be safer then any cemetery and with LA's finest's out and about all is well. For now. I walked into a 24 hour coffee shop and ordered a hot drink, paid for it and noticed it was after 2. I left the coffee house and continued walking.
