Home sweet...

Oh who am I kidding?

I finally reached my place after the tortuous hike back from all the non-fun that happened outside the nightclub. Standing directly across the street from my house I looked up and down the deserted block.

No sign of Cordy’s car...and I’m surprised by this--why?I wasn’t. Not really. Ever since she’s been all...un-coma-fied she ( Read more... )

As I turned the corner I had realized that I left Nicole at the club without a ride. I knew she was there but I mean I left her with Mike...I pulled out my cell with my free hand keeping the other on the wheel. I pressed number 1 on my speed dial and called Nicole's cell. Just to see if she was still at the club or had made her way home. I had a feeling she was at home but I wanted to make sure. That way if she was at the club well I could give her a ride back to her place. I came to a red light and let the phone ring waiting for her to pick up.

"Come on Nicole, answer your phone!"

I watched as some old guy who was turning gave me a look as if I was crazy while I yelled into the phone..though it was on the other side so this guy just thought I was yelling to...I dunno the wind...possibly the steering wheel. I watched as he drove off...great another person who thinks I am insane. I continued to wait for Nicole to answer.

I jumped at the sound of my phone ringing. I had gotten use to either the sound of Wesley's pen scribbling, my own voice...or dead silence. After grabbing my jacket off the wing chair I pulled out my cell. Once recognizing the number that flashed up on the tiny screen I flipped the phone open, then focused my attention back of the pad of paper. I decided against my usual 'City Morgue' greeting. It really wouldn't have been funny right now...then again, was it ever?

"Well that was quicker than I had expected. Figured you two would have been all...bad 'Lifetime' move--with the reuniting and the crying...and the being sickeningly long."

Why bother saying 'hello?' I knew who it was...

It was odd that she didn't say her usual phone answering technique but hey it's not like she has to say it every time the phone rights right? Plus ya gotta love that whole caller display thing it comes in so handy at times.

"It went pretty good actually. I mean she wouldn't talk at first and well I pretty much just brought it out and we talked from there and I could tell she was glad to actually have someone know because now she doesn't need to keep the secrets...well she does but least not with me. Also things with us in the future are actually really good...same with you and her. But ya I was just making sure that you had gotten home because that is where I am heading to now. So I am guessing that you ditched that Mike guy."

I smirked slightly and nodded...thought she couldn’t see either action. Part of me was glad she tracked Abby down and got what she needed to hear out of her. A very tiny part--the other part didn’t care a whole lot.

“Heck yeah. Much with the ditching. Remind me not to go on a field trip like that with you again. I get stuck with the extra baggage.”

Metaphorical bags, not real bags...pffft like I’d be caught holding those.

“Next time a kid who reads way into the ‘Back to the Future’ series parades into town you’re on your own Summers.”

I wanted that to come out harsh, but it didn’t. ‘Cause even I knew if this did happen again--which really...what are the odds--I’d still probably tag along.

The light had gone green once already I looked up and it turned green once again. I turned the corner heading home since Nicole had ditched which I figured she had.

"Okay well I just wanted to make sure that you had got home then cause I am almost back at my house now. You know Buffy wanted to have that talk so that's what I get to do once I get there."

I drive on straight for a little ways till I finally got back to our street.

"So, long as your there and you didn't get a tag along then I guess I will call you tomorrow....I may go to school I still aint sure on that yet"

Was this that same talk from before...or another one? Who on god's green earth can keep track? Buffy's always got a speech. I'm convinced she writes random ones out at night...she doesn't sleep. That way, when the time comes where a speech would be handy, she can just say 'we need to talk later'...then she goes back and memorizes the one that seems right for the given occasion.

"Well have fun..."

When she mentioned a tag along I couldn't help but wonder if her freaky vision thing had kicked in again... I don't want a best friend with visions--already got a cousin with them.

"Nope, none of those...all safe." Why give the girl something else to worry about?

I cringed as she mentioned school. Plah, stupid hell place...and this one didn't even have a hellmouth to fall back on! Just pure undiluted evil that can only be brought on by teenagers...

"Well, call me tomorrow and let me know if school is a no-go. I'm not strolling willingly into the lion's mouth alone."

Fun...okay I think Nicole and I need to buy that dictionary cause we have lost the meaning of fun. It's sad I mean okay Nicole was queen on the school here then well she moved to SunnyD where she kinda claimed her territory there so I mean it's not like we didn't know the meaning of fun it just...varies at times. Sometimes even more then we like.

"I will call you sometime tomorrow morning. I am saying now that I aint going to go to classes but with Buffy she may have a different say to that. But I dunno maybe with all the stuff we've been dealing with..she will give me a break...who am I kidding it's Buffy. Anyway talk to you later."
