After leaving the hospital I decided to make a quick stop at the hotel room that would be serving as my home away from home for...however long I would be here. The place wasn’t half bad. It was just like Will to spoil me. She had the landlord under a minor spell from back home. This way I don’t have to worry about paying rent, or being asked/told 'aren’t you too young to be here alone?'. It really puts her witchy mojo into perspective. Her power transcends time for heaven sake!!!

I had only come back here to drop off my backpack. It had served its purpose of making me look like an average school goer, but now if I carried it, it would only serve as a burden of unneeded (and unwanted) weight. I only needed one thing for this night on the town, and it was already concealed in the inner pocket of my duster. This jacket, like that backpack, was extra weight on my shoulders but unlike the backpack...it wasn’t an unwanted load. It kind of served as a reminder of why I came here in the first place. I also carried my lighter--I always have--I don’t smoke, just got a habit of flicking the damn thing open and shut 'cause I like the familiar sound.

Leaving the room, I make my way out of the apartment building. I had my mind set on heading to the nearest graveyard but on a whim I decided to ditch that idea. My back still ached from my earlier fall, and I wasn’t really up for being tossed into tombstones by a member of the un-dead gang. Not that I get thrown into tombstones a lot during a fight.....

Now on the outside of the building, I make my way into the alley and work my way up the fire escape and onto the roof. I walk over and stand on the ledge then look down.

Hmmm, falling from here would make my earlier trip feel like a drop off a couch and landing on the floor.

A night on that town was an option, but a night above it? Much more peaceful. I walked along the edge a few building over, luckily most of the downtown L.A. buildings were all connected.

I stuffed my hands into my pockets and continued until I had reached the building that sat on the corner of the block. Taking a seat with my legs hanging over the edge, I stare down at the hustle and bustle below me.
