Prudence took the chocolates and ran her hand along the heart shaped box. "This is my first valentine's gift ever," she said. "We didn't celebrate it in my community..."
She headed for the coffee table to set the box carefully down, then hugged Tara. "I'm just so happy we're back together to celebrate it now..."
"T-There's this, t-too..." Tara tried her best not to stutter or stammer... well, she managed not to stammer. One out of two, right? She handed her the gift bag, which contained a little heart-shaped keychain, which had the words, 'two hearts, one destiny' engraved on the back, with their initials.
"Kinda ch-cheesy, I kn-know... but it's how I f-feel..."
"It's beautiful," Prudence said, taking the keychain out and smiling at the engraved words.
"I'll put my house key on it. Oh, and let me just go get your gift..."
She bounded off to her bedroom and returned a moment later with a colorful wrapped package, offering it Tara. Inside was a beautifully crocheted shawl with a star-shaped pattern. "I made it for you- I hope you like it."
Tara gasped, and gave a surprised smile upon seeing the gift. She really wasn't used to anyone giving her any gifts, no less something so personal and beautiful.
"Prudence... it's s-so b-beautiful... just like y-you..."
"That's Gulligan," Lizzie said. The bird squawked in response to his name. "Warren made him for me for Christmas - isn't he amazing? It looks just like a real seagull, but he's all robotic."
Tara looked back at Pru, blinking cutely. "This has to be a really b-big change of p-pace for you..." Hell, the girl was from a community about as far removed from robotic aviation as one could imagine.
"Have a n-nice Valentine's Day, Lizzie. I think w-we're just going to have a n-nice dinner and t-talk."
"It is a lot different than what I'm used to," Prudence admitted. "But I am pleased to be living here - it's rather nice, and much better than being the bride of a corn demon, certainly. Have a good date, Lizzie..."
She opened it, and smiled brightly when she saw her girlfriend there. "Hello Tara- come in!"

Her robotic seagull sat on her shoulder, craning his feathery head to see what she was doing.
"Hey ladies - don't mind me, almost out the door for my date. Happy V-day."
