Perdy entered the Bronze, slinking through the crowd to the bar, occasionally letting her body sway with the music. She could tell Ben was working as at least the tunes were semi decent.
Perdy was still slightly annoyed at Ben for having almost flirted with that musician girl. She hadn't quite forgiven him, but she was prepared to let him make it up to her.
Propping herself up at the bar she yelled to where Ben was busy serving drinks. "Any chance a girl can get served?" She bit her lip and grinned a little. It was good to see him again.
Ben lit up immediately, his eyes not even trying to hide the obvious happiness. He literally turned from a young girl he was chatting with in mid-sentence, leaving her annoyed as he wrapped his arms around her, giving her a long, passionate kiss right there in front of everyone.
"Woman... I have missed you more than you could possibly imagine. I've felt like half of my heart's been missing. Look... I have a lot of female friends. And yes... I flirt a LOT. But Perdy, I swear... you're the only one for me."
"I better be, or there'll be trouble." She said joking, but with a little bit of serious subtext. She'd had serious trouble stopping herself going out and killing the trash who had dared to flirt with her Ben. She kissed Ben again, her anger at him definitely softening.
"So, what's been shakin'?" She asked. Truth be told, she'd been out of the loop for a little while. The whole evil business had ground to an almighty halt in the mayor's office. Apparently some other big evil was brewing, and the mayor didn't want to step on anyone's toes with any untimely deaths or rituals. He'd said that at the moment the business was all about shaking hands with the right people, and he really didn't need Perdy to do any of that.
"Quite a bit, actually... and for once? Good things." Ben flashed her that little grin of his that was usually reserved for when either he was being naughty, or was really excited about something.
"The band I decided to back... we're going to work on an agreement to sell some tapes of their live shows exclusively at the club, and split the funds. Our new bartender is proving to be a helluva worker, and we hired her cousin as a waitress/busgirl on a probationary basis, plus... I've started looking into that... 'thing'... you wanted. Trying to find someone who might be able to help you aquire it." Of course, he was referring to her quest to regain her soul.
"Glad things are going well for ya." Perdy said, wishing her life was approaching that level of excitement. She was a bit concerned about him spending more time with the band, hoping that the skank wasn't too much of a part of it, but she tried to bury her jealousy. It wouldn't do either of them any good.
"I'll be honest with you, I'd pretty much given up hope on that... thing. Seems the more you look for something, the less likely you are to get it." She sighed a little. "I've been doing really well though, you know... with the fang club rehab and all that." Her face didn't give anything away if she had been bad, and there would be no way she would ever tell Ben if she'd had a moment of weakness.
The best part was... Ben probably wouldn't care if she HAD been 'bad'. As long as she loved him, and didn't hurt his friends or family? Frankly, he could care less. Ben was a nice guy (most of the time), but didn't exactly have a high moral ground.
"All I want is for you to be happy, love. I want us to start going out more... actually let others see how much we love each other. Besides... if you're WITH me, I'd say you have far less to be worried about in terms of other women, hmm?" Oh yes, he was being very teasing, but he really did want her to get to know his friends more.
"I'm happy enough." She said, genuinely smiling. "Though seeing more of me might involve finding some factor 5000 sun cream, or you working less." She joked. "Though...." She had a bit of a brain wave.
"Things are kinda slow with my work at the moment, and I have had a bit of experience in the hospitality industry. Okay it was over 200 years ago and I can't exactly get a written reference... But if you could take me at my word, I could make a decent bartender, and maybe keep you company on the busy nights. You wouldn't even have to pay me much, in fact, just pay me in liquor and I'll be happy. Please?" She kissed him on his nose. "Pretty please?" Then kissed him on his lips. "With a cherry on top?"
"Like you need to ask?" Ben laughed, with a happy grin. "Of course. Bretton won't care, and Bronte might bitch a little, but we'll convince her. Just don't kill anyone while on the clock, and we're golden." He returned the kiss, and winked at her. "We'll get you set up to work with Jocelyn the first few times so she can give you a bit of on-the-job training just to get you back in the swing of things, since it's been so long... and as for my friends? Babe... there is this thing called going out at night. I figured we could go out with Jocelyn and Eva some night after work, or maybe I can introduce you to the band sometime." Nothing like endearing the girls to her to (hopefully) defuse a bit of the jealousy.
"Bronte's not so bad." Perdy said in defense of her. "She's a bitch, and I like that in a person." She grinned a little, happy at the idea of being able to spend more time with Ben, whilst also keeping an eye on him. Not that it was the aim of her suggestion, but maybe it would ease her paranoia a little.
"Going out and socialising? Like 'normal' people?" Perdy said, joking slightly. "Would make a nice change to going out and maiming someone for a pay check I guess."
"Great." Ben looked both relieved and happy. "I'll set up a schedule for you, and talk to Jocelyn about some mini-training sessions." He gave her another quick kiss, and a playful slap on the butt. "Go get a drink and relax... I'll come find you in a little bit, and we'll get out of here."
