Jolee felt the bed move, and half-opened an eye to see the source of the disruption. Nick... but what was he doing in her bed?
She opened her eyes the rest of the way, and noticed that he wasn't quite dressed and that this was, in fact, not her bed at all. For that matter, she felt a bit of a draft...
"Eep..."
She reached for the blanket, and pulled it over her, head and all. Maybe she could just hide here for a while until the blushing faded.
Nick wanted to say, "Not as hung over as I was the last time I woke up with a pretty girl in my bed," but he figured Jolee might not take that very well.
"Not too bad," he murmured, turning away from her and reaching to flick on the lamp beside the bed. "Sorry for waking you."
"It's okay," Jolee assured him. She sat up, keeping the blanket strategically wrapped. Where the heck did her shirt go, anyhow? She had a vague recollection of flinging it in a random direction last night.
"So um... last night.. .wow.. I um, it was... yeah... wow..."
"It was pretty much the best thing ever," Jolee said sincerely, though she still felt really awkward about it. She played with the edge of the blanket and didn't look up at him.
Nick choked, which was a pretty mean fat, since he didn't really have anything to choke on. But he coughed and sputtered all the same, and looked at Jolee with wide eyes, his face growing redder by the second.
"You mean -- fuck -- don't tell me that was your first..."
Jolee ducked back under the blanket, totally embarrassed by the way he was looking at her. "Yes," she muttered, muffled by the blanket.
She hoped she hadn't done too awful at it. "I um... I didn't mess it up or anything, did I?" It had seemed pretty easy at the time, the way they'd both come together - it was really natural at the time.
Jolee peeked out from under the blanket again. "Don't say that," she squeaked. "If you're going to hell, I'm going to hell too and I don't want to go there!"
She'd seen enough demons to know that hell was a very real and not-good place.
"Oh fuck..." Nick sighed, smoothing his hands through his hair again. He took a deep, slow breath. "Madison, calm down... you're not going to hell... you're just fucking insane for wanting your first time to be with me."
"Who else would I want it to be with?" Jolee asked, honestly puzzled. She reached out and touched Nick's shoulder with a tentative hand. "I only changed my mind 'cause I know you're not the marrying kind."
"Damn right I'm not," he grumbled. "God damn it, Madison... Jolee..." He sighed, shaking his head and looking down at his knees. "look, I... I had fun, last night. With you. I really did. But... I'm not serious about you, you know? It's nother personal, I'm not serous about anyone. I don't do serious. ...I'm sorry."
Jolee pulled back as if she was struck, dropping her hand from his shoulder. "Oh... sure," she said in a quiet voice. "I understand."
Understood maybe, but it felt like a lead weight dropped over her heart. She got up from the bed with the blanket still wrapped around her and headed for the door. She'd just go find some other clothes in her room, quite possibly after a good deal of crying.
Nick gritted his teeth and tugged at his hair. Damn it, he didn't want to upset the poor kid... but he really didn't want her to have the wrong idea either. Things would only get messier from there, if she did...
"Damn it," he muttered, glaring hatefully at his pillow, "This is why I hate the holidays."

Of course, it was completely not-so-easy now.
