Dinner at Sid's

Jul 22, 2008 22:18

Who: Kya, Spike, Tamara, Gerald
Where: Sid's
When: Monday night

Kya was in a good mood. She had a 'Christmas' uniform and hat on (meaning red with white fur trim), and the diner wasn't very busy, so she was slacking.

Zack was leaning on the counter, looking happier than usual.

Spike was in his corner booth, brooding.

"It's Christmas!" Kya said to Spike "Cheer up."

Tamara walked in, talking to Gerald "And I am not setting foot in one more store until wayyy after New Years..."

"Hi Tamara!" Kya smiled and waved

Gerald chuckled. "Told you it'd be bad."

"Hey guys," Tamara said, inviting herself and Gerald to go sit with William in the broody corner. "Did you finish your shopping yet? I hate malls."

"I finished mine." Kya said "Took me ten minutes."

Gerald followed, amused. "I bought mine nin advance."

"I went shopping with Franco the other day - forgot a few things though, so I thought I'd drop in tonight- it was crazy! Reminds me of that one year Tony and I had to shop on Christmas eve - I knew I should have called him to bring the smoke grenades," Tamara said.

Spike waved as people settled at his table. "Tis the season to spend money," he piped up and smirked.

"So tell me what you got me." Kya said, to Spike

"Tis not the season to spoil surprises," Spike said.

"I think Tony said Carmen's doing Christmas dinner - you guys are coming, right?" Tamara asked.

"Yeah." Kya said "Right, Spike? Well, if he doesn't, I am. It's better than me trying to cook."

Spike nodded gravely.

"How have you guys been liking your new apartment? It's neat having you right in the same building," Tamara said.

"I like it." Kya said "It's smaller, but thats fine. I've got Spike and you guys, and Alex, and the new neighbors are pretty nice"

"Oh, we haven't met the new neighbors or Alex yet," Tamara said. "What're they like?"

"It's comfy enough, and the neighbors are actually quite friendly," Spike said.

"Alex is really nice." Kya said "I've known him longer than I've known ya'll. I've known him since before the demonbaby."

"He's the prophet, right? I've seen him around a time or two, at meetings..." Tamara said.

"Yeah. He's the prophet." Kya confirmed "He works at the Stake House."

"Demonbaby?" Gerald inquired.

"Yeah." Kya said "I got mixed up with the wrong people, and ended up carrying an antichrist baby. Anyway, you guys want something to eat or drink?"

"Heh... yeah, how about a nice steak and salad with a root beer?" Tamara said, not touching that baby thing.

"I'll have the same," Gerald said.

"Be right back with the drinks." Kya headed off rather quickly to get food for people.

Tamara leaned her head on Gerald's shoulder. "Man I'm tired. Stupid mall."

Kya handed some drinks over, including a mug of something for Spike, then headed off again

"Thanks," Tamara said, and sipped her drink.

Spike took a sip and nodded. "That's the good stuff."

Kya returned with food a bit later. "So, what did I miss?"

"Doom," Gerald answered cheerfully.

"Well, you're all still here, so it can't be that bad." Yes, Kya was stil cheerful

Tamara grinned. "You missed how tired I am- that's about it."

"From shopping or just too much work?" asked Kya

"Shopping," Gerald said.

"Are you all done?" asked Kya

"Finally," Tamara said. "I think so." She started eating her steak

"Well, good. That means no more christmas shopping until next year."

"Thank goodness- though next year, I'm starting earlier. Or doing like Tony did and shopping online," Tamara said, between bites of food

"I'm not good with computers." Kya admitted

"I'm not as good as Tony, but I'm okay," Tamara said. "Good enough that I know next year I'm definitely shopping online."

"I used one at the library once, and it wouldn't stop beeping at me. I'll just do what I did this year." Kya said "It's good that you have the online thing figured out though"

"We have one at the house," Spike said. "It's just gathering dust. Might try to figure it out, this next year."

"No big rush on that." Kya said

"Nothing scary about computers," Gerald said. "They only do what they're programmed to."

"And they're fun to play games on," Tamara said.

"Maybe I'll see about learning them." Kya said "If they stop beeping at me."

"Would you rather they laughed at you?" Gerald asked.

"Not really. I just feel like I'm doing something wrong when it beeps." Kya explained "Maybe the sound could be changed to really nice music, so when you made it beep, it played Beethovens Fifth, or something."

"That might be possible, depending on the computer," Gerald said. "I could take a look."

"I"ll bring it by sometime." Kya said

"Yeah, Gerald's pretty good with computers," Tamara assured them. "He can probably fix it."

Gerald nodded. "Alright, then - I'm not fantastic, but I did tech support a few times."

"Ok, well, I better get back to work." Kya got up to do so
