"Good afternoon," the betentacled demon said, tipping his hat with a few of the facial tentacles without missing a beat. His voice had a vague slur to it, punctuated occasionally by the smacking of tentacles together for emphasis as he talked. "I'm here to answer questions you might have so that Clem can afford the kittens he owes me... so let's have some."
"Well, from a quality standpoint, Siamese," Mr. Tentacles explained. "The fur is much finer, and the animal in general is more valuable. Tabbies are simply a basic rate of currency... sort of how you would compare a one-dollar-bill to a twenty."
"Hmph! You're not exactly attractive yourself, kid," the demon replied, a few tentacles snapping in irritation. "I'm not here to conform to your artificial shallow, human-centric concepts of beauty. I'm here to instruct. If you have a constructive question to ask, do so."
"Well, according to your books, I'm an Architeutorian," the tentacled fellow said. "One of the descendants of the architects of The World That Man Stole, and all of that. Those with less interest in ancient lore call me a Tentabaum, because it is a shortened form of 'tentacular abomination'. But you can call me Aleph."
"Tentacles are much more beautiful than yellow stringy hair and pale skin!" Mandy said. She'd been glaring at Cassie since her comment. "I hate all of you!"
"Sweetie?" Nica snagged Mandy's sleeve. "Hon? Settle down ... it's okay ... " She did give Cassie a dirty look of her own, though. "Maybe everybody will learn something from this class, right?"
"So ... " Nica looked at the TentaBaum. "Sir? Would it be okay if Mandy said a few words? I know this is your time, and we certainly do appreciate it, but my friend Mandy has something on her mind."

"You know... I've seen some really disturbing things in my 15 years. But this is SO easily the worst. I hate this freakin' town."

Clem looked towards Mandy and Nica. "We're all beautiful in our own way, kids. Now let's be polite to our guest speaker."

Humans were good. Fire was bad.
She had to remember that.
