Waiting for something

Who: Katie, Tina, Juice, Kyle, Mari, NPCs, Sam, Tim, Vito, Anna, Michael
Where: Sunset
When: Wednesday Night

Katie was balancing a pencil on her nose.

Tina was counting how long Katie could balance the pencil. "I think you're headed for a new record."

Katie didn't answer, since answering would mean The Fall Of Pencil. Yes, sometimes Katie was easily amused.

Juice lurked with Kyle on one of the couches, still enjoying the wonders of day off.

Mari was bartending tonight, looking cheerful.

Kyle was mellow, yo.

Katie balanced... balanced... then blinked as the pencil abruptly went skittering. "Darnit..."

Tina retrieved the pencil. "That was the longest you've done it."

"I think Katie's enjoying her day off too," Juice commented, watching the pencil fall.

"Thank you," Katie said, beaming. "I'm working on my sense of balance."

Kyle nodded. "Huzzah for being lazy!"

Cinderella was actually handling the busgirl work today, and was gathering up dishes and trying not to look too cranky about it.

Sam was hanging out at a table, changing the strings on her violin.

Tim was with her, but doing homework.

"You're doing a good job." Tina smiled

"Thank you." Katie smiled. "Now if only I could fight like a ninja, I'd be all set."

"You two want something?" Cinderella said, stopping by Tim and Sam's table.

"I have no idea how to fight like a ninja." Tina said "But it would be cool if you knew how to do that, then I could tell people that my girlfriend is a ninja."

"No thank you." Tim said

Juice waved to Cindy as she passed.

Cindy waved. "Good." She headed over to Juice and Kyle. "You two want something?" The irony of repaying Juice's bail loan with Juice's tips was not lost on her.

Sam leaned over and kissed Tim. "How's the homework coming?"

"I wouldn't mind a coke and some cheesefries," Juice said.

"It's okay." TIm shrugged "I'd rather be doing other stuff."

"Mmm ... like what?" Sam asked.

Tim shrugged rather than answer.

"I'll have twenty eggrolls and a pot of duck sauce," Kyle said. "And a Coke."

"Alright, I'll be back." Cindy headed off to go get the goods.

"I don't know any ninja, though... and I don't have any formfitting tights," Katie admitted.

"Twenty? Jesus Christ, Kyle..." Juice was impressed.

"You'd look great in them." Tina said

"Dot'll show up sooner or later and want to eat some," Kyle said. "And if not, it means we'll have food all night."

"I need to find a job." Tim said, to Sam

"I dunno, I think my -- oh," Katie said, catching the implication a moment late.

"Sorry..." Tina said "But you would... I think I'd say that about anything you wore, though."

"Yeah, she better or we'll get tummy aches," Juice said.

Katie nodded. "Probably."

Cindy eventually returned with cheesefries, Cokes, and a big plate of eggrolls.

"Thanks babe," Juice said.

Juice's phone rang.

Sam leaned closer to Tim, whispering.

"You're welcome," Cindy said, and headed off to go pester other people.

Tim nodded.

Juice fished it out of his pocket and answered. "Yellooo?"

"Juuuuuice! I'm boooooooooooored!" Dot whined on the other end of the phone. "Plus, my feet hurt!"

"I'm really glad you have a night off." Tina said, to Katie

"Me too," Katie agreed. "And someone else is doing my work, which is good too."

"Get your folks to drop you off at the 'Set," Juice said. "'Cause we have the night off so we're totally just hanging and eating eggrolls without you. I'd come and get you myself, but Master V's got the car. That's why we're lurking here."

"So ask," Sam said.

"They're just gonna want to go home! Besides, I can't leave for at LEAST another fourty-five minutes! Stupid Tracy, calling in sick at the last minute. I'm not always this nice of a person, so when she gets back from her emergency leg surgery, I will have my revenge! Or, a day off at least. God." Dot grumbled.

"Ugh, lame!" Juice said. "You're totally stuck there for that long? Without us and without the egg rolls?"

"Wait, did she just bail?" Kyle asked.

"Yes! I said it was illegal, but i don't think they believed me," sighed Dot.

"She's stuck at work still," Juice said. "Here, talk to her..." He handed the phone over to Kyle.

Kyle snagged. "Damnit, you're supposed to be here stealing our eggrolls!"

Katie snagged the pencil. "Anyhow, what do you want to do now?"

"I know! It's so unfair! But I bet they'd fire me if I just left, so I guess I'm stuck here," sighed Dot.

"Want to dance?" asked Tina "Or, you could balance the pencil again, or anything."

"And I'm thinking of getting a haircut." Tim said

Sam raised her eyebrows. "Seriously? Have you ever had one?"

"Not that I remember." Tim said "I've had trims."

"So, why now?' Sam asked. "Just for a change?"

Tim shrugged. "Yeah."

"Ask her if she can come over after work," Juice said.

Sam played with Tim's hair. "I like it this way, but whatever you want to do."

"Well, how long are you stuck there?" Kyle asked.

"You do?" asked Tim "Cause if you like it, I'll keep it that way."

Sam smiled. "Do what you want, hon. If you'd be happier with it short, then go for it."

"Um, at least another ..what time is is now? Lemme check." Dot was quiet for a second. "Okay, at least another half an hour. AND I gotta go," she grumbled.

"Alright, well, come by after. Your stalker just came in," Kyle said, "and we've got a ton of eggrolls."

"I don't know." Tim said "I don't know what will make me happy."

Sam looked sad, at that, and hugged him.

"My stalker? Who? Oh...really? Well, be nice!" Dot clicked off quickly after that.

Kyle hung up, and handed the phone back to Juice.

"She'll be by when she gets off of work," he said, and sprawled on the couch again.

"Is she coming?" Juice asked, putting the phone away.

"Awesome."

Tim got a hug. "Thanks..."

"Any time."

Kyle offered Juice an eggroll.

"Sure, I'd like to dance," Katie said, and got feetwards.
Niknik> Tina smiled, and got up. SHe'd get to dance with Katie. Today was turning out great.

Tim leaned on Sam, and looked mellow

Sam was slowly running her fingers through his hair.

Katie headed on to the dance floor to pretend to be capable of dancing.

"I'm not that great." Tina said "But I can try to help you."

"Thanks babe," Juice said, and took the eggroll to munch.

Tim mumbled something, but seemed content to have Sam run her fingers through his hair

Dot showed up a little later, looking tired. She sat at the bar for a few minutes to rest her feet.

Tim mumbled something, but seemed content to have Sam run her fingers through his hair

Sam smiled a little more, and nodded.

"There she is!" Juice said. "Heyyyy... over here! We have couch space and eggrolls for you!"

Dot waved, but headed over couchward. Eggrolls were a powerful motivator.

Tim sat up suddenly, and frowned. "I'll be back, princess." he quickly gathered his things

Juice offered over an eggroll

"Where you going?" Sam asked.

"I don't know." Tim said, heading out quickly.

Katie abruptly eeped and whirled. "..."

Dot took the eggroll, then collapsed on the couch.

Kyle grinned. "We started the Chinese orgy without you."

"Sorry?" Tina hoped she hadn't done anything wrong

"It felt like someone just grabbed my butt," Katie said, "but there's nobody behind me... I must've bumped into something."

"Maybe you slackerboys will have more stamina than me tonight anyway," sighed Dot. "I am seriously going to be very glad to see Tracy when she gets back, right before I put her back in the hospital for having terrible timing."

"Yeah, we plan on using our stamina later," Kyle grinned.

Juice grinned too. "Totally."

Anna headed in, just as her sisters boyfriend headed out.

"LALALA, TOO TIRED TO DEAL WITH BOYSEX," said Dot.

"Does that mean that normally you'd love the boysex?" Kyle asked.

Vito was with Anna, looking mostly good but a little stressed. Sunnydale was being more Sunnydale than usual, lately.

"Normally I tolerate it because I like you, and I fall asleep before you guys actually start anything," Dot grinned.

"We certainly love it," Juice said.

"Hot pulsing boysex," Kyle agreed.

ANna happily hugged Vito.

Tina frowned, and glanced around to see if anything was around that Katie could have bumped in to.

"I ...I'm gonna kill you boys. Really. Any second, I'll get up." Dot smirked at them.

Katie wasn't near anything or anyone, at least not now.

"Oh, we know, you prefer the hot pulsing boobies," Kyle teased.

Juice laughed. "Speaking of which - how's things going with you and Satsu?"

"I don't see anything that you bumped in to." Tina said

"Yeah... hm." Katie looked miffed, but went back to dancing.

Tina really wished she could see what or who grabbed or touched Katie.

Anna smiled at Vito, then headed over to Sam

Sam gave Anna a wan smile. "Hey," she said.

"Hey, what's up?" asked Anna

"Pretty okay, I guess. I mean, we hung out in the park the other day. That was fun! I told her that she should come by some time and really meet you guys," said Dot.

"Tim's being moody," Sam said.

"We have to see if she's worthy of your company," Juice said.
*Aus* Tina doesn't see anything, but she could've sworn she felt something magical a moment ago. Maybe just the wards.

"Otherwise, we'll have to get the baseball bats," Kyle said, "and rumble on her, Warriors-style."

"Does someone need to kick his ass?" asked Anna

Tina frowned, and slowed down her dancing

Sam shook her head. "That doesn't cheer most people up, for some reason."

"Um, really? That's awfully sweet, you guys!" Dot reached out and ruffled their hair, wearily.

"True." Anna said "Let us know if we need to do anything."

Kyle nodded. "We'd gladly pulp a bitch for you."

"Aw!" Dot sniffled. "I love you boys, let us never fight again!"

Kyle hugged cheerfully.

Juice hugged and smiled.

"Just, you know, don't be dumb in the future, ever again. For anything. Those are my conditions!" Dot grinned and hugged.

"Okay, we'll just be stupid," Kyle agreed.

Anna ruffled SAms hair

Sam leaned on Anna.

Katie eeped again and whirled. "... maybe we should stop dancing for a while."
*Aus* There it went again.

Well, after Dot had asked her to stop by, how could Satsu resist? Humming a bit to herself, and carrying a bag filled with various books she'd bought while out, she walked into the club slowly, taking a look to see if Dot was there.

Tina nodded, and frowned.

Kyle began humming 'Dare to Be Stupid' to himself.

Dot nudged Juice and Kyle. "You boys behave, now." She waved to get Satsu's attention.

With a tentative smile, Satsu made her way down to Dot, raising a fine brow in amusement. "Bad time?"

"We're going to beat you with bats if you're bad," Kyle said to Satsu. "Eggroll?"

With a somewhat confused blink, Satsu cautiously took the eggroll. "Wow. Um... nice to meet you?"

"I think someone is messing with you." Tina said "But I can't tell who or what.. so maybe you should just go home."

"Nice to meet you too," Juice said, offering a hand. "I'm Juice. This is Kyle."

"Oh... okay," Katie said. "I'll come back tomorrow?"

Dot thwapped Kyle. "Kyle, BE NICE." To Satsu she said, "You can ignore him when he's being dumb. He really does mean well, don't you, Kyle?"

Tina nodded. "Sorry..."

"We're Dot's bodyguards," Juice said. "It's a totally tough job, but someone has to do it. And the duck's too small to do it on his own."

Vito got drinks and food, and settled at the table with Anna and Sam.

"She's bummed because her boyfriend is a weirdo." Anna explained to Vito

Kyle nodded. "Yeah, we're the hired muscle."

Katie hugged Tina, and started heading on outwards.

Tina watched Katie leave, and looked defeated

Satsu smiled there, and tilted her head. "You know... that's actually really sweet."

"Hey, she's one of our best friends," Kyle said.

Dot smiled. "They're good boys, really."

Katie headed on out and to her car, mumbling about weird buttgrabbing.

"We're just scary," Kyle added cheerfully.

"And she's lucky to have such protective friends." Satsu looked from one to the other and smiled. "And I adore Dot. Id never hurt her."

"Grarr," Juice said, trying to be scary.

TIna headed for a table in the corner, to be moody and angsty and lonely.

Dot smiled. "Thanks, boys." She ruffled Juice's hair.

"So... I guess this means I need to befriend you guys too..." Satsu grinned and went into her bag. "What works best for friendly bribes: candy or awesome books?"

"Candy," Kyle said.

"Candy," Juice agreed.

"Candy it is!" Satsu grinned and pulled a bag of Peanut Butter Cups from her bag. "I was gonna veg tonight, but I can go buy more later... eat up!"

Kyle swiped the bag. "Thanks!"

Dot laughed aloud. "Some fierce protectors you poodles are. Now, gimme one."

"Relax, if she grabs anything we'll still beat her like a rented stripper," Kyle promised. "Anyhow, I'm bribed. Now bribe Juice and Dot."

"That bag was for both of you!" Satsu laughed. "And I don't have to bribe Dot. She knows how awesome I am."

"Aw." Kyle checked the heft of the bag.

"You can just shove them over to make room, Satsu," Dot said. "There's some guys that are so rude, they don't make room for another guest on the couch."

"We're gay, Dot," Kyle reminded patiently. "Therefore, female powers don't work on us."

"Shoving is a power that doesn't rely on sex. Allow me to demonstrate." So saying, Dot shoved Kyle over closer to Juice.

"Well, we should get along fine then, because gay people rock." Satsu laughed and held her hand up to Kyle for a high-five.

Kyle chuckled and high-fived Satsu.

"Dot? Your friends are certifiable, but awesome." Satsu chuckled and shook her head.

Dot smiled. "It's why I keep them around. Would you SIT DOWN already?"

"Yes ma'am!" Satsu laughed and sat down in the spot Dot had shovingly made for her.

Juice wrapped his arms around Kyle, looking mellow and content.

"See, it's so much easier to just listen to me," Dot grinned, resting her head on Satsu's shoulder.

"No it isn't. We didn't listen to you and we got candy," Kyle pointed out.

"You know, Dot... the boy has a fairly valid point."

"Well, of course. I have to let them get a victory in here and there, don't I?" Dot grinned.

"And soon... we will recruit you into our Rainbow League!" Satsu gave a mock victory laugh.

"Actually, we were just planning on looting your prospective girlfriend, and still being ready to beat her if she's trouble," Kyle commented.

"We're not suckers or morons, after all."

Satsu grinned and pointed cutely at Kyle. "You are NOT a nice person sometimes."

Satsu kissed Dot sweetly on the forehead. "I hate to do this, sweetie, but I gotta get home. Homework isn't gonna finish itself, much as I wish otherwise."

Dot smiled. "Okay, fine. You hustle on home, then."

"Call me later?" Satsu asked, a hopeful tone to her voice.

"Of course! Now shoo, else we will keep you here. You could always stay anyway.." Dot smiled.

"Never said I was," Kyle replied, and grinned.

"Don't tempt me, babe." Satsu got up and smiled sweetly to Juice and Kyle. "It was nice meeting you guys... take care of Dot for me."

"Mike would let her stay, right? I mean, he lets me stay..." Dot said, to Juice and Kyle.

"Will do!" Juice promised.

"Uh..." Juice didn't want to say no, but...

"You be safe, okay?" Dot waved to Satsu.

"You could ask," Kyle said, pointing at Michael. "But unless he knows her, he's gonna say no."

"It's cool, Dot." Satsu didnt want anyone feeling uncomfy. "I'll be safe... and you just call me before ya go to bed tonight."

"I will! Now shoo!" Dot blew her a kiss, and waved.

Dot hmmed. "That makes sense. I suppose she'll just have to hang out here more, huh?"

"Might be wise," Kyle agreed.

"So, um..what do you think of her?" Dot nibbled an eggroll nervously.

"I didn't get much of an impression. She showed up, gave us candy, sat down, got up, and left."

Kyle shrugged.

"She seems cool, but my judgement can't be trusted when there's free candy involved," Juice said.

Dot nodded. "I trust her not to hurt me, at least. You know how they always say 'they're more afraid of you than you are of them" ? This is kinda like that.

*"

"So you're scared of her?" Kyle inquired.

"'Cause she seems pretty confident she can take you."

"Not of her, no. Of ..doing something wrong. Saying the wrong thing, stuff like that." Dot shook her head.

"Ahhh. Of totally fucking up your chances of romance," Kyle said, nodding.

Dot nodded. "Yes, but she's afraid of scaring me away, or something."

"I was scared about shit like that when Kyle and me got together," Juice said. "But he was kinda y'know, going through some bad shit, so I was extra worried."

"Somehow I doubt she's worried about that," Kyle said.

"Now maybe if someone else were also interesting to you, she'd have something to worry about."

Dot frowned. "Hey now. That's not fair."

"Just saying... you're nervous because you know she has someone else she might be interested in, and she doesn't know of anyone else you're interested in -- so she's assuming a predatory posture," Kyle said. "Her body language practically screams 'surrender now'."

Dot nodded. "I told her that I'm not about to let myself be pushed into anything."

"Yeah, and antelope tell tigers they can run fast," Kyle agreed.

"Well, I'm not about to lie to her and pretend to be interested in somebody else just to make myself more valuable or anything," sighed Dot.

"Trust me," Juice said. "Don't let anyone push you int' anything you're not ready for..."

Juice frowned, thinking about the mess with Brody before he met Kyle.

Kyle shrugged. "Didn't suggest that. But you asked me about impressions - and all I've got to work with is body language, because she didn't say anything except witty banter."

"Well, I'm sure she was nervous too. I talk about you guys a lot. You might have scared her a little with your choice of greetings, Kyle." Dot munched another eggroll.

"Dude, I'm a gay teenager who weighs 120 pounds. How scary can I possibly be?" Kyle said.

"And I fight like a girl," Juice said.

"They actually said that during combat class - and added 'and not in good ways' at the end. It was on my Academy report card," Juice said, glum.

"But...you guys were a little ..enthusiastic, that's all." Dot sighed. "I just hope she doesn't really think you guys are threats."

Kyle munched candy.

"...sorry," Juice said. "I didn't mean to."

Dot hugged them both. "I know. I'm just nervous myself, is all. I want you guys to all get along. I love you guys, and Satsu's important too."

Filing away the 'fights like a girl' comment for a later date, Dot sighed.

Juice hugged, and patted Dot. "But is she more important than us? 'Cause that'd kinda suck."

"Yeah, we'd be depressed and have to wear more black than usual and cut ourselves, and the cuts'd get infected," Kyle said.

Dot shook her head. "You're my boys. Whatever happens between she and I, what happens between the three of us is different."

"Good. We don't have to beat anyone, then," Kyle said, smiling sweetly.

Dot shook her head. "Well, just keep in mind that I like her, okay? I don't where it will end up, but I like her."

"Yes, dear," Kyle said.

Juice nodded.

Dot smiled. "I just ...."
