Wesley arched his eyebrow at Kit when he walked into the room and announced that they need to talk. Kit and Wesley had never gotten along for more than five minutes at a time, so the two of them being on the same track about anything was something worthy of the six o'clock news. "Alright, let's talk, then."

"Watchers," Kit said. "I don't trust those poncey English tea-sippers - and I trust their American offshoots even less, if such a thing be possible."

He tossed down the minutes of the meeting onto the desk. "And from what I've read here, you agree."

Wesley picked up the minutes on his desk and looked them over. "I heard that you didn't like this idea, either." Actually, he had heard that Kit absolutely hated the idea and had walked out on the meeting. "I do agree. I didn't leave the Watcher's Council in England just to work with them here in America."

"What made you leave them?" Kit asked, looking over Wesley with a newfound appreciation. He hadn't cared about Wesley enough to check into the details of his coming to Sunnydale, ever, so he hadn't known that.

"Other than the fact they're all gits, of course- but was there something in specific?"

"I didn't like how they treated the potentials or the Slayer herself, actually. A girl isn't a tool to be ordered about." He had never been able to reconcile himself that a girl was just a tool to be used, so he finally resigned after he got the offer from OSI, who promised that the girls would get treated better. So far, it was an improvement, but all of this monopolizing that had been going on this year was making him question if it really was all that different with OSI. The idea to align themselves together only made him wonder more.

Kit nodded, understanding that. When India had been his Slayer, he had always treated her well.

He tried not to think of how that had all ended.

"I still don't see what the OSI thinks to gain from accepting help from the American Watchers. There's got to be some kind of angle there, you know. They're not doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. They must think they have something to gain from it..."

But what? The OSI was far more advanced than the Watchers. True, the Watchers had a lot of old records, but those were mostly archaic and scattered at best.

"And I know those Watchers are just looking to score our resources," Kit said, grumbling. "Maybe get in good, start trying to recruit or pick off our potentials. I don't trust them a bit."

"I'm sure that the relationship would be more beneficial to the Watcher's Council than to OSI," Wesley said. "They do probably want to attract potentials away from us. They are already losing Watchers to us as well." Wesley just knew that they couldn't do anything to convince him to come back. "The question that comes from this is what can we do about it? Everyone else seems to be on board for some reason." Of course, he wasn't sure if the others had ever actually worked with the Council before. They probably didn't know how the operated.

"Well, we're not on board, that's for sure." Kit pondered this, tapping his fingers on the desk.

"We should keep an eye them. A very close eye. Try to do some digging in to what they're up to. And I know just the way to do it..."

He smiled. "Your potential. All we have to do is get her to befriend their potential, and we've got an in. She can try to get the information about what they're up to and report it back to you."

"I can ask Gwen if she'd try to befriend the other girl, but we'll need to find another way to keep an eye on them as well, just in case." No one could make Gwen do anything that she didn't want to do. "I've also heard that the other girl...isn't exactly the most friendly of people."

"I'm already working on that," Kit said.

"Leave that 'other way' to me."

He smiled a smile that indicated whatever he had in mind, it was likely not very legal (or ethical) but was likely to be effective just the same.

"Right...didn't know, couldn't have stopped you. Got it." He was sure that Kit knew how to get things done, though, so it was better that Wesley didn't know exactly what he had in mind. Plausible deniability and all. "You can work on your way, and I'll convince Gwen to try and befriend the other girl."

"Excellent plan," Kit said, getting up from the desk.

"Let's definitely keep in touch. Oh, and - good to have you on my side," Kit said.

It wasn't exactly an apology for all the times he'd called Wesley a poncey git, or thought bad things about his parentage and/or manhood - but it a compliment, considering the source.

"It's good to have you on my side as well," Wesley said. "I'll make sure to keep in touch." Kit, for all of his faults, was a good person to have on one's side. There were certainly worse people to have on his side, and Kit wasn't a good person to truly be on his bad side.
