She don't eat meat...

Who: Tina, Katie, Juice, Kyle
Where: Weatherly Park
When: Friday after school

Tina sat in the park again, frowning over a book. She was supposed to be socializing, and instead, she was studying.

Katie apparently had a habit of wandering in public places, as sure enough, she was wandering through the park, watching birds in trees.

"Hi Katie!" called Tina "Homework sucks."

"Hmm? Yeah, it does..." Katie headed on thataway. "What're you working on?"

Juice had a frisbee and he was not afraid to use it. He was trying to throw it to Kyle... but he missed by a lot, and nearly beheaded Katie with it. "Sorry!" he called.

"I have to read this book for English class, but I read it a long time ago." Tina said. She jumped up, and tried to get the ball before it hit Katie, and most likely missed.

Katie got bonked by the Frisbee, and cringed briefly before realizing that it was a Frisbee. "... oh, hi, Juice..."

"Oops?" Kyle commented.

"Sorry.. I suck at frisbee," Juice said, and jogged over to collect it.

"You okay?" asked Tina

"I'm okay," Katie nodded. "Sorry..."

"Why are you sorry?" asked Tina "It's not your fault that the frisbee hit you. Blame the frisbee."

"Yeah, it's totally the frisbee's fault," Juice agreed. "What're you guys up to?"

"I don't want to do homework." said Tina

"I know the feeling," Juice said. "I totally blew mine off to come to the park with Kyle."

"If I don't do my homework" Tina said "My Grandma will sit with me, and watch me as I do it."

Kyle grinned. "We're enjoying the fresh air."

"I was just walking..." Katie answered. "And getting it done now is better than spending the entire weekend worrying about it."

"Oh, that's annoying - my brother's done that a time or two," Juice said, sympathizing with Tina. "I did some of my report yesterday, and I'll do the rest of my shit tonight hopefully."

"I did my report." said Tina "But I still have to read this book. I wish I had a time machine, so I could go back in time and ask Jane Austin to write something that wasn't boring."

"If she wrote something else, then you'd have to study some other author's boring book," Katie pointed out.

"That's true. Why do people write boring books? It's annoying." Tina said "And why do we have to study them? Who cares about her writing anymore?"

"I'm also reading a book on crossdressing," Juice commented.

"Why do you need a book on crossdressing?"asked Tina

"..." Katie gave Juice a quizzical look.

Juice shrugged. "To see if I look hot in a dress. And because it was next to Ancient Rome for Dummies for some reason."

"Why don't you try a dress on?" asked Tina "I'd let you try this one on, but then I wouldn't be wearing anything."

"The downside being?" Kyle commented, amused.

"Um, why do you want to see if you look hot in a dress?" Katie asked.

"Well, Kyle's kinda bi, and I'm kinda girly sometimes, so..." Juice winked

Katie looked completely nonplussed.

"I'm trying to look hot, so I make more friends." said Tina "But Cordelia keeps teasing me, and saying that I'm stealing her laundry, so I might give up on that."

"I don't think looking like Cordelia is the best way to make friends," Katie commented.

"Well, what should I do?" asked Tina "She's popular. I thought if I acted like popular people, I'd make friends."

"She's popular because she's got lots of money and hangs out with other people that have lots of money," Katie advised. "And she's only really liked by other upper-class types."

"Oh." Tina frowned "Well, I'm out, then. I'm not upper-class, and I don't have lots of money."

Katie nodded agreement.

"I guess I'll go back to being ugly." Tina sighed "Well, you guys are my friends, right?"

"I'm semi-popular now that I have my TV show and because I manage the Neck Ruptures," Juice said. "But I don't worry about it too much."

"You have a TV show?" asked Tina

"Judge Juicy," Kyle commented. "It's on local access."

"Cool." Tina said "I'll have to ask my Grandma if I can watch it."

"I'm having people over to watch movies this weekend." said Tina "If you guys want to come. Katie will be there."

"That'd be cool," Juice said, looking to Kyle to see if he wanted to.

Katie nodded in confirmation.

"Sure," Kyle nodded. "We could do that."

Tina smiled. "Good... It'll be nice."

"Do you want us to bring anything?" Juice asked.

"Junk food." said Tina "I talked to my Grandma, and she said instead of buying snacks, we could have fruit and veggies, but I know you guys don't want that."

"I don't mind fruit and veggies," Juice said, "But I bet we could snag some wings from the Sunset before we head out."

"I could bring some chips and dip," Katie offered.

"Thanks." Tina smiled "And you can have all the fruit and veggies that you want. We're vegetarians, but I think everyone else likes wings."

"Oh, sorry," Juice said. "Uh... would it offend your grandma if we had meatly goodness?"

"No." Tina said "I don't think... She should be okay. I think she just doesn't like the taste of meat."

"I love meat," Juice said.

Kyle patted Juice. "We know you do."

Juice laughed. "I'm sure you don't mind."

"I don't think I like it." said Tina "I'm not sure sometimes."

"Meat's just another part of a balanced diet," Katie commented.

"Yeah." Tina nodded "Protein. I guess Tofu has it, but I don't like tofu."

"It's just that you shouldn't only eat meat, any more than you should only eat anything else," Katie added. "Some people really take it to extremes." Katie rubbed her neck briefly.

"Are you okay?" asked Tina

"Yeah, it's just warm out here," Katie answered.

Tina glanced at Katie to see what she was wearing.

Katie, for the record, was wearing pants and a light sweater. From the expression on her face, though, she might have just caught up to Juice and Kyle's innuendos.

"You should have worn a tshirt." said Tina, who may or may not have caught on.

"Probably, but it was colder this morning," Katie answered.

"That's true." said Tina "That's a nice sweater though."

"Thank you," Katie said, smiling.

Kyle started twirling the frisbee on a finger.

Tina smiled. "You're welcome."

Juice jogged a short distance away and made the 'throw the frisbee!' gesture towards Kyle.

"You ever play frisbee?" asked Tina, to Katie

Kyle grinned and let the frisbee fly.

Katie nodded.

"Want to play?" asked Tina

Juice reached up and caught it, then threw it back to Kyle.

Tina got up, and tried to coax Katie into playing.

"Okay, okay..." Katie shyly started heading thataway.

Kyle grinned and tossed it to Tina, since she looked like she was joining in.
