Someone just forwarded me a message that was posted to a large freecycle group in an inside-the-Beltway DC suburb. All identifying info deleted.

Subject: [freecyclexxx] OFFER: Cute Female Ph.D. to Good Home With Handsome Male M.D.
I had such good luck finding a beagle for this woman on FreeCycle that I though I would try this. This is not a joke and she is aware of my placing this offer. Don't let an attractive intelligent woman be discarded on the trash heaps of singledom. Please help me find her a good home. Just because I couldn't make use of her doesn't mean you or someone you know couldn't. Please address all replies to zzz@zzz.com.
Offered is an attractive woman with a Ph.D. in economics, 39, blonde, 5'6", average build who is seeking a permanent home with a well educated man 39 to 51 years of age.

IN HER OWN WORDS:
I'm looking for interesting, intelligent, caring and open-minded partner. I'm sure that good communication can solve many problems in the relationship. Good sense of humor also helps a lot. I work during the week, and on weekends I like to relax doing my favorite things like watching movies, horse riding, fine dining or volunteering. I also enjoy arts and music, probably a bit more than football.
You: strong, protective, mature, self-secure. Your interests: arts, traveling. Could be well traveled, but not necessary.
It's totally against the rules, of course, and I assume yyy@yyy.com is going to be in deep doo-doo for posting it. These would proliferate if they were allowed, and the real purpose of freecycling would quickly be lost among the ISOs.
It was a creative thought, and if it were permissible and lots of people were doing it, it might have a different connotation. But under the circumstances it strikes me as a bit pathetic to try to freecycle oneself, given that the mission of freecycling is to save unwanted items from being thrown into the landfill.
