Hello all! It's been a quirky week as I was blindsided by ANOTHER cough/flu thing-y. Not impressed with my immune system as I've had to cancel two ski days and a weekend trip to accomodate this sucker. Plus, on Monday I was sent home from work. The good news is I was home in time to recieve my Fedex delivery of Serenity Chopsticks! On
open_on_sunday's challenge was the Simpler Life. My muse obviously wasn't affected by this bug because I have three High School drabbles, including a Marcie one; two Spike drabbles as he reflects on the changes in his life, and two from the last season of Angel. To finish off something light! Enjoy!

Her arm fading out was freaky, but it came back. It wasn't until someone looked at the mirror through her that she saw that she really wasn't there.
Funny how invisibility clarified everything.
Now she had the power. She would make them see, strike that, notice her. It was working, too. If only she hadn't tried to make that Buffy understand, she would have had made them all pay.
But it looked like her new school would help with that. The classes were killer. Clear targets, clear objectives.
Being invisible was the start of a simpler, and way cooler, life.
A/N: Yup, our dear friend Marcie wanted to play!

She'd complained, or whined, that she wanted to be a normal girl. She should have known better. After the insanity of the last few months, the heartache of Angel's change, and his change back, all she wanted was a simpler life.
But what she found was new stresses. Rent to be paid for a dingy little room. A chauvinist boss to be browbeaten by. The occasional vamp to stake on the way home.
No apocalypses. No sacred duty. Just memories and day to day mundane tasks that were killing her slowly: a thousand paper-cuts that no Slayer healing could cure.

"No more pencils, no more books," Xander hummed as they walked away from the burning remains of Sunnydale High.
There had been losses, but he wouldn't think of them now. He was free. He'd served his twelve year sentence and he'd managed to grab his walking papers, a.k.a. his diploma, as proof.
"What are you grinning about?"
"Just a sense of liberation. No more papers to write, no more tests to fail. No more getting stuffed into lockers. Just me, the open road, and a much simpler life."
Yup he was a man with a plan. What could go wrong?

His proper Victorian life had consisted of rules and regulations; most of which were never spoke of until they were broken. The times one could visit. Whom one might address. What flowers one might sent. Reputation was the currency and he was always finding himself a mite short.
Then everything changed. His Dark Princess ushered him into a world where HE was top of the food chain, and he could give the bowman's salute to Society's dictates.
Or so he thought.
Then Angelus has the bloody temerity to imply he was sullying their names!
Seems this simpler life, bloody wasn't.
A/N: The Bowman's salute is the two fingered gesture Spike always makes.

The beer bottle cracked as he smacked it down. So he didn't have a sodding destiny, or rather he was being chatted up with the line fed the great Poof. Un-fucking-believable! For bloody once could he do something Angel hadn't done?
So what now? He could go back to cruising the Peppermint Stick and its ilk, but-not that he'd breathe a word of it to anyone-that life, while simpler, wasn't his style anymore. In Sunnyhell he'd been part of something bigger than he was. It felt like family.
Simpler could stuff it. Upside, more chances to bug Angel.

She could see it on their faces. This time the handsome men couldn't save her. So she just had to save herself.
She'd lived impossibles before, but these factors were different. Once she couldn't research, she surveyed her life. She'd promised Mom that she'd be dull. She'd also promised never to smoke up. She hadn't meant to break the first promise, but, after Pylea, dull became an excluded variable.
Was there one point where she could have avoided this?
Listening to Wesley's voice, she thought maybe, but would she have wanted to given up a minute of this life?
Never.

The team had questions that only Lindsey could answer. And, given Eve's stalker, they needed them forthwith. Funny how now he's research guy. But he'd learned his lesson from Wesley, just cuz you find things out, no reason to go blabbing it.
He'd not only located the way to the Suburban Hell, but its specs. An amnesia groundhog-day effect, but the captive is not aware of time passing. A wife, a kid. Cooking and homework. A much simpler life.
But there was still that hour a day when awareness would return; and you would pay for your sins.
Sounded perfect.

A well accessorized whirlwind entered his office. "Lornie-kins!"
"Hello my little Harmonica! What brings you here?"
"Oh what a fab mirror!"
As Harmony pouted at her lack of reflection, Lorne suppressed the grin. He'd grown fond of the blonde secretary, excuse me, personal assistant. "How may I help you today? Something for the bossman?"
"Nope, I just had an idea for a tv show and I thought you might be able to help."
He hadn't expected a pitch from this quarter. "So what's your idea?"
"Well, isn't there a demon cable channel? I would so rock on 'The Simple Unlife'."
