the experts say that our generation, that being people who were teenagers around the turn of the millennium, live increasingly more through internet communications than any other generation currently on the internet. and that is as it should be. we are the ones who grew up when the personal computer became a sidekick instead of a nemesis. i knew how to manipulate windows 3.1 by the age of 6. and as computers become more and more an integral part of our everyday lives, it is amusing, to say the least, the things that are posted/enacted online make such a difference in our social lives.

i met a girl at work who goes to occ, and we like each other. we have been chatting online, on the phone, in person when possible (and i say 'when possible' because we both have hectic schedules), leaving each other messages and super pokes on fb, texting for hours on end, the usual. and tonight we had planned on hanging out up at her dorm. then, as i am walking out of work, i check my phone and find a message from her that she wasnt sure if she was going to be able to hang out tonight because she was doing laundry at her dad's house, and didn't know when she would be back. and, apparently, its in my nature as a cancer to worry. alot. because i worried alot, thinking that she was avoiding me. but that is just me being irrational. and when i got home, i checked facebook, and she had cuddled me on superpoke. somehow, this small gesture in an online app reassured me that she isnt avoiding me, and that she is, in fact, just buried in laundry.

technology. it was created to simplify our lives, but how simple has life become?
