[NAME:] Ron DeLite
[AGE:] 24
[GENDER:] Male.
[STATUS:] Happily married!
[SEXUALITY:] Straight.
[FRIENDS:]
* Desirée DeLite: His one true love. This is especially true because he had never gotten into a relationship before rescuing her from two armed men one fateful night. He feels like the luckiest guy on earth having her as his wife, and his whole world revolves around her. He has her on a pedestal, and would do anything to keep her happy and buy her material goods -- lie, cheat, steal! He's not a bad person at all; he never would have done such things before meeting her. Love has simply clouded his better judgement.
Their relationship has been even stronger since the "Stolen Turnabout." She is his best friend, and more important to him than his own life. He will not stand for any offense against her.
* Diego Armando: Even back when Diego was "Godot" and was prosecuting him in court, he appreciated Diego. He felt belittled and insulted whenever anyone doubted he could be Mask*DeMasque -- he's more daring than people believe him to be! -- so he was strangely grateful being called "Mr. Thief" by Diego, even feeling a hint of praise in Diego thinking he was gutsy enough to kill his ex-boss. He gushed over how "cool" Diego is, to Phoenix's dismay.
Now he finds himself being friends with the masked man, though he can hardly believe it himself (why does someone so cool give him the time of day?). He looks up to Diego and listens carefully to his advice, viewing him as a heroic figure. Diego has been helping him slowly grow a backbone. He hopes someday he can be just as strong, confident and masculine as Diego -- but for now, he is practically the exact opposite.
* Phoenix Wright: He's eternally grateful to the ex-attorney for getting him out of what seemed like a hopeless situation. He feels like he owes Phoenix much for essentially saving his life. If Phoenix ever needed a favour from him, he wouldn't mind at all. They haven't interacted much since the "Stolen Turnabout" incident, except over the Internet. Ron would like to change that, but he doesn't want to intrude on Phoenix's life.
* Miles Edgeworth: Before meeting him in person, Ron had only heard rumours. Ron decided to trust him, seeing as how he is friends with Phoenix. After an unexpected encounter at a toy store, Edgeworth now knows Ron is aware of his fanatacism. What he doesn't know is that Ron had sold a diagram of his house to burglars so he could tip off the police and collect the reward. (Ron justifies this to himself as a wake-up call. Edgeworth should have secured his home better.)
Ron knows Edgeworth is less than fond of him, but he continues to respect the good prosecutor's intelligence and will ask him for advice, though he finds Edgeworth a little hard to approach. He never forgets Edgeworth's vague acts of kindness towards him no matter how small, and is starting to see the side Phoenix sees. Edgeworth is also a saviour in his eyes after Edgeworth called the prison to make sure he doesn't get killed when confronting Matt Engarde.
Special Note: Ron has a special filter on his journal for the three men mentioned above whenever he requires manly advice. It is referred to as the "Manly Advice Filter" (a.k.a. "Man Filter" for short.)]
[NEUTRAL]
* Kristoph Gavin: He knows next to nothing about this man, but felt honoured by Kristoph's apparent need for perfection when commissioning a Mask*DeMasque costume. He wouldn't mind knowing more about him.
* Valant Gramarye He doesn't know Valant personally, but he's a fan.
* Wendy Oldbag: A former KB Security co-worker. He found her to be a sweet old lady. He felt a bit overwhelmed whenever she ran her mouth, but he would politely listen with a smile and let her finish whatever she had to say. He never had much of a chance to talk about himself because of her nature, but they got along regardless. He tried to be as helpful to her as possible (and, as a result, ended up doing most of her work...) because he was always told to be good to senior citizens. He sometimes wonder what she's up to now.
* His highschool counselor: A mysterious figure of the past who taught Ron how to be more assertive while in school. He was a fine man, until his life fell apart due to various circumstances.
[ENEMIES:] Ron is not the kind of man who could easily make enemies, but...
* Luke Atmey: Atmey is the man who continued to blackmail him, and even murdered his boss and tried to pin the blame on him... but Ron just can't stay mad at him. He did come up with some very clever plans, after all, and Ron respects him for that, but he can't deny the fact that he's put him through much grief. He feels a little down whenever he comes across Atmey's name now. It brings back bad memories.
After talking to him recently, Ron is frustrated with Atmey's total lack of remorse and disrespect towards his wife. It seems Atmey is up to something, but Ron is trying to keep that off his mind. He doesn't see Atmey as a threat for now.
* Matt Engarde: Being a fan of Nickel Samurai, Ron tried to give him a chance and to get to know him better. He seemed like a nice, harmless man who regretted what he did. After hearing otherwise from reliable sources and suspecting Matt of going after Desirée, Ron confronted the actor in person (after being given a little push by Phoenix) and found out the hard way how dangerous he is. When Matt viciously slandered Desirée, Ron hit him in a fit of rage (albeit in an homage to episode 11 of Nickel Samurai). Now Ron is deathly afraid of the big bad man and is paranoid that Matt will hurt him the next chance he gets, completely unaware that Matt is in denial over what happened.
[OCCUPATION:] He and Desirée have just launched their new business, "Mask*DeMasque Consulting." They work together to stop burglaries the city. The police find them to be quite good at it! However, they are the ones who secretly sell plans to thieves in the first place, so it's no wonder they're so good at foiling them. Ron still wonders if what they are doing is right or wrong...
[HOBBIES:] Buying things for his Dessie. Sewing. Designing clothes. Working out so he can better protect Dessie (though he finds it tough to keep up with it). Taking a stab at various DIY projects.
[LIKES:] His wife, shopping for his wife, cooking for his wife, going for long walks on the beach with his wife, etc. Watching superhero and tokusatsu movies & TV shows. He gets drawn into stories involving costumed men quite easily, especially when there is romance involved (and there usually is). Other TV shows he likes are reality-based ones you'll often see on TLC -- ones about fashion, cooking, home decorating, weddings, babies, that sort of thing. He finds them quite fun, and he learns a lot from them, too! (As embarrassing as it may be for him to admit...)
He hero-worships men who are brave, outspoken, and strong-willed.
[DISLIKES:] Seeing his wife unhappy in any way. It truly breaks his heart. His greatest fear is making her upset or disappointing her. He hates being ignored, too -- he may be timid, and rather small in size, and rather tiny in presence, but that doesn't mean he should be treated as if he doesn't exist! Although he's not the most confident guy, he does have SOME pride in himself as a human being, and wants to be seen and heard. It bugs him when people simply don't listen and dismiss him because of his demeanor.
[STRENGTHS:] Ron is a loving and devoted husband. Maybe a little TOO loving and devoted; Desiree could easily turn him into a complete doormat if she had any ill will at all. It's evident from his props and costumes that he's creative and surprisingly skilled when it comes to the arts. He's even good at technical stuff, like wiring and electronics. He also gets the most awesome adrenaline rushes -- he's much physically stronger when he's scared or panicking!
[WEAKNESSES:] His wife is his greatest weakness. He devotes so much of himself to her that it's not exactly healthy. But it IS his first relationship, and they haven't known each other for very long, so perhaps his mind is in the "honeymoon stage" for the time being, and will learn more about what it takes to maintain a well-balanced relationship the later down the line of their marriage. He still has a lot to learn when it comes to love and needs to learn that it's okay to say "no."
[APPEARANCE:] Stands 172 cm tall (5'6"). Very slim, with a feminine doe-eyed face and long brown hair neatly kept up in two swirly buns. Trim, clean, and proper-looking. He always appears very well-mannered and is never one to invade another's personal space (he's even shy when it comes to being lovey-dovey with Dessie).
His favourite colour is green and he opts for plain, casual clothing with no bold patterns or anything eye-catching. A lack of regular outfit in the game has forced his roleplayer to decide he often dons a dark green T-shirt, safari green collared denim jacket with the sleeves rolled up, slim white pants and green sneakers.
[PERSONALITY:] Ron is like a sweet little lamb (complete with curly "horns"). He's polite, shy, and generally very harmless-looking, so it can be surprising at first when he makes a sudden passionate outburst. Having a short temper, he does this whenever a nerve is struck (e.g. when he feels nobody is listening to him). He's tired of being ignored all the time, and wishes people would take him more seriously. He no longer wants to be seen as the useless wimp he was labeled as in school. Having a strong, beautiful woman like Desiree as his wife only motivates him further, especially since he won her heart through an act of bravery. But people can't change that easily -- due to his lack of confidence, he still trails off into a low mutter when he talks, constantly second-guesses himself, and doesn't work well under pressure.
When he was Mask*DeMasque, however, he felt like a different person. Putting on the costume was quite an empowering experience to him. He was like the mild-mannered Clark Kent becoming Superman (except instead of saving lives, he was committing crimes...), or the nerdy Peter Parker becoming Spider-Man (ditto). Despite the bad memories associated with his days as Mask*DeMasque, sometimes he misses the thrill. In fact, the only time he beams with confidence is when his old alter ego is brought up. He prides himself on having created a good phantom thief persona -- it was a result of hours upon hours of research, watching movies and reading books about such characters. He loved having fans and it made him feel good about himself.
He is zealous with his endeavours, whether it's being a good husband, being a good phantom thief, or proving himself guilty in court. Whatever he does, he does it with endearing passion. As Desirée puts it, he may appear unreliable, but when sets out to do something he does it well.
According to his wife, he has a tendency to get caught up in his fantasies and become delusional, but we have yet to see that side of him.
[BACKGROUND:] Ron grew up in a typical middle-class suburban neighbourhood. He was the youngest of three boys born to a domineering stay-at-home mother and a tough manly-man father (of French nationality) who worked as an engineer. His older brothers were both athletes. Despite being a better student, his brothers received more attention from his father, who always went to their sporting events and cheered them on. He was pampered by his mother who, unlike her husband, didn't mind the fact that he was more interested in drawing and watching TV than sports and racecars. Because of this, he grew attached to his mother, even if she was a bit scary at times because of her quick temper and her domineering attitude. His relatively dull life caused him to immerse himself in stories involving costumed men, and he has been hero-worshipping such figures ever since.
He was a bookish nerd in school and was never popular. Especially not with girls. He never went to high school dances, never showed up in yearbook photos, and his presence was so small, he didn't even get picked on. Sometimes he secretly wished he would get teased because, hey, at least people would be paying attention to him then! He felt like a disappointment to his father (who always accused him of being gay) so in order to make him proud, he got a job at KB Security after graduating and worked there for four years, becoming a chief. He even got married to a gorgeous leather-clad babe with a motorcycle after saving her from two men with knives who took her hostage (as he cried and flailed his little arms)! All of this shocked and impressed his family.
Things were finally looking up! That is, until he realized how high maintenance his wife is, and started going broke from keeping up with her demands. He became desperate; if he stopped buying her things, she might leave him! That would be terrible! So out of desperation, he began selling company information -- and got fired when his boss found out. He didn't have the heart to tell Dessie what happened, so he became even more desperate: he turned to burglary as a costumed phantom thief called Mask*DeMasque with the logic that this was the only way he could make enough money to support his wife's spending habits. (His other option was to become a rockstar.)
Unfortunately, his identity was discovered right away by Detective Luke Atmey, who found his costume in the trash after his first heist. Atmey began sending him anonymous letters blackmailing him. The letters would tell him to steal certain valuables and leave them behind in certain spots in return for lots of cash. Desiree has a strong sense of justice and hates cheaters, so if she found out who Mask*DeMasque is, she would hate him for sure! He had no choice but to do what the letters said. At least they payed the bills. He thought things were going fine -- that is, until one day, he received a letter from his ex-boss (Kane Bullard of K.B. Security) threatening to expose his identity. He had to meet him at his office that night. Well, one thing lead to another, and Ron suddenly found himself arrested for the murder of his boss, who he had simply discovered dead and stuffed into a safe to avoid being accused.
Thanks to the help of his attorney, Phoenix Wright, things got miraculously resolved, and he learned the truth: Atmey was the one behind all the letters and the murder of his ex-boss. Because of the fact that Atmey was found guilty of being Mask*DeMasque (it's a long story) and the double jeopardy law, even though Ron's phantom thief identity was made clear, no charges could be made against him. Desiree seemed fine with the whole Mask*DeMasque thing, too, because Ron did the honourable thing and warned the police in advance what he would be stealing and when.
And now they live happily ever after! I think...
