If you could change a law from any time in history, which would you change and what impact would this have?

I'd abolish the death penalty!!!

But I don't know how things would be different now... Oh wait, I have to choose WHEN? That's tough.

True evil does exist in this world, Curly Sue -- in the hearts of men. There ain't no savin' those afflicted...best we can do is to put 'em away for good so we don't gotta share with 'em the air we breathe.

Now wait a second! That's arguable, don't you think? How can we clearly define what "evil" is, anyway...? Everyone deserves a second chance.

Besides, air is for EVERYONE to breathe -- good people AND bad.

Looks like someone's got a lot to learn.

You bet.

If you ain't acquainted with the kind of evil men are capable of, bully for you, dogie. Perhaps that's for the best. But when it comes to cleanin' up the town you live in so folks like yourself can keep on livin' in that candy-coated bliss, leave that to us less fortunate ones, y'hear? Our hands are already stained red, our eyes tainted with visions unholy -- we've born witness to things no man should ever have to so we may judge what's right in this world and what ain't, for your benefit.

Comprende?

Doesn't mean I agree with everything you've had to say about the matter, of course.

It does mean, however, that you are for keeping the plebeians in the dark. How refreshing, to see eye-to-eye with someone so completely.

What I'm for is the protection of such minds from the harsh realities people like us had to face day to day. If it don't bother 'em enough to seek it out and they don't got nothing to do with the law, ain't no point in raisin' paranoia.

Of course. How could they ever understand? The less they know, the better off they will be in the end. The interjection of public opinion could do nothing save to further muddy the justice process, tainting it and rendering it unable to render the correct verdict.

I shudder to think how differently the Joe Darke case may have turned out if Joe Public had been appropriately educated.
