A magic shop.

"... what did you have in mind?"Is he playing dumb, or is this just his natural stupidity level when he's tired? I ask one question and Angel's acting like I'm going to suggest that we open a shopping mall. First of all, we don't have the money to do something that expensive. And second, I think that given our location, a magic shop would bring in ( Read more... )

"Fine. We'll look into the shop business and work out getting a loan. Tomorrow. Right now, we've got a demon problem on our hands."

So what else is new? We always have a new demon to face, a new vision to figure out, and usually, a new bill to pay. Now we're going to take out a loan to buy a magic shop. That translates to us owing more people money, at least until we can get back on our feet with either the detective business, or the magic shop. I'm all for us broadening our horizons with an new business venture, but I wish Angel wouldn't have automatically settled on the money coming from a loan.

If it fails, they'll find a way to make my reptutation with finances even less respectable.

I got up to pick up the book and sat back down with it. After a few minutes of skimming it over, I remembered what a crappy night it had been for Angel. I mean, things usually suck for him; minus the actual sucking on his part, but tonight everything seemed just a little bit worse than the norm.

"So, are you feeling any better yet?"

"Let's stop using the word 'want' tonight. You know where I stand with this stuff."

And here I thought I was being gentle.

"Sorry, would you rather I flat-out command you to fetch me things?" I asked as she sat down across from me with the book in her hands. At least she was actually doing what needed to be done, despite the snide comments. I could usually count on her to get things done -- but it wasn't unusual for her to complain the entire time she was doing it.

"So, are you feeling any better yet?"

I looked up from my legal pad again.

"A little... thanks for your help in there," I told her, giving her a small smile. I couldn't remember the last time I'd been hurt this badly. The bandages were helping some. They would, at least, hold me over until the vampire healing kicked in for real.
